You may have heard, since I refuse to let you forget, that I have great skin. Don’t get me wrong, I have a ton of other issues, like weird back problems, anemia, keeping the demons at bay, but at least my skin is clear!

If I had to pick a problem that plagues my skin, it’s the fact that because I’m always working or partying or staying up late writing, my skin doesn’t always appear to be awake, even if I am. It’s not just the dark circles that I’m always whining about, either. My skin can be as clean and clear, easy breezy beautiful, “Maybe she’s born with” it as I want it to be, but face staring back at me still looks dull and lank.

If we’re being honest, there’s no beauty or skincare product that can replace a good nights sleep. But we can try!

Olay caught my eye with new additions to their Fresh Effects collection with the tag line “well-rested skin, no sleep required!” If that’s a line made specifically for me and my nocturnal tendencies, I don’t know what is.

The new additions are infused with honeysuckle and white tea, a pair that work together to detox and make your skin look hydrated, clear, and most of all, awake! Skincare that promises to make my skin look alert and rejuvenated, available at the drugstore? TOO DOWN. And after all, if there’s one thing I could really benefit from, it’s a good detox.

Here are my favorite parts of the new collection. While in the shower, I use the Out Of This Swirled Deep Pore Exfoliating Scrub, $6.99.

Typically, you have to space out using exfoliators every couple of days because they’re too harsh to use on your skin daily, but what I like about this scrub is that it effectively combats blemishes and blackheads, and it’s gentle enough to be used as your daily cleanser.

Exfoliating micro-beads are ~swirled~ with moisture rich ribbons to cleanse, remove dead skin cells, and deeply hydrate your skin, all in one wash. The exfoliating micro-beads deeply clean and get all of the crap off your skin that has built up, but are fine enough to be gentle and not beat your face up every morning. It rinses clean, without leaving any exfoliating beads clinging to your face (please tell me that happens to you guys, too. I can’t be the only one…)

Out Of This Swirled Deep Pore Exfoliating Scrub comes in three scents: Green Apple and Jasmine Tea, White Grapefruit and Green Tea, pictured above, and Honeysuckle and Green Tea, which I would have photographed, had I not accidently destroyed the label while opening it. Sorry Olay!

Bright On Schedule Eye Awakening Cream, $12.99.

Now that I’m done with that exhausting shower, I head straight for the eye cream. Bright On Schedule comes in a tube that doubles as an applicator, with three massaging roller balls that cool and massage my puffy eyes while applying a sheer, feather-light cream that hydrates and helps to reduce my dreaded dark circles and under-eye bags.

The cream itself is oil-free, very lightweight, absorbs quickly, and won’t clog your pores. Honeysuckle, white tea, and cucumber extracts help to cool, energize and make you look well rested after your all-nighter. I love that the tube doubles as an applicator so you can carry it with you if you’ve had a particularly rough night. Do you guys secretly apply another layer of eye cream throughout the day, or is that just me?

Now for my FAVORITE part of the line, Dew Over GEL Moisturizer, $12.99.

Gel moisturizers are my absolute favorite. If I ever find myself using a cream moisturizer, I usually end up not using it at all simply because I hate how they feel on my skin, and how they look after eight hours of wear. Give me all of the gel moisturizers, plz. And the fact that I can snatch this one at the drugstore just makes me so happy.

The Dew Over Gel moisturizes all damn day, without leaving you with any shine. The gel is formulated with a powder, which actively helps to combat oil at the end of the day. If you’ve got oily skin, this is your new secret weapon to help fight shine. Another great thing about this is that, in these harsh winter conditions, your skin still feels hydrated. Do you ever use a gel moisturizer and have a suspicion that it just dries into thin air the minute you put it on, leaving you like “umm…?” This one doesn’t do that, promise. These winter winds suck, but my skin doesn’t feel wind-burned.

I let out a resounding “YAS” when I discovered that the moisturizer was a gel, and I’m happy to say that it didn’t let me down. Do you like gels, or no? What’s your favorite gel? Comment below.

But that’s not all, new Fresh Effects products also include and exfoliating wet cloth, a makeup removal cloth, and a moisturizing sunscreen. They’ve also reformulated some of the original Fresh Effects products to be have awakening effects, such as the cleanser, satin finish lotion, and BB cream!

Are you excited about these new additions to the Fresh Effects collection? I AM. What do you use to make you look more awake? No seriously, tell me. I need all the help I can get. How's your skin doing this winter?
