Miley Cyrus Makeup Tutorial: Spiky Lashes And Bold Lips

As I've said before, one of my favorite aspects of makeup is transformation.

I’m kinda into Miley Cyrus’ beauty game, I won’t lie. Her makeup looks aren’t far from what I favor for myself--clean eyes, clean face, bold lip, bold brows, and, as seen in the below photo, spiky bottom lashes

Naturally, I thought, Why not try this for myself with fake lashes?

Let's begin.

First, I used Urban Decay's Venus (a soft, off-white demi-matte) on my lids, stopping at the crease.

I then lined my upper lid using black liquid liner.

The line I drew was fairly thin--if it were any thicker it would sort of overlap my crease, if that makes any sense--but feel free to do whatever best suits your own eye.

After curling my lashes, I added falsies to my upper lash line.

I got these at the Pound store, so they were pretty hard and slightly cheap looking, but what are you gonna do?

For my lower lash line I used tweezers to apply single lashes that I'd cut short.

This look is admittedly a little harsh, depending on your tastes, but I like the effect. I filled in my brows using the Anastasia Brow Palette.

If you want to you can go ahead and coat your top lashes with mascara. I hate removing mascara and since I was wearing this look alone in my room and not twerking in front of millions of people, I skipped it.

For the rest of my face I used the lilac highlighter in my Lise Watier Portfolio Professional Corrector in Normal under the brown bone, cheekbones, down the center of nose, on the chin, and in the middle of the forehead. Looking back, I think I was too heavy handed on the highlighter, so take note! I filled in my entire mouth with MAC's Brick lipliner (a dark brick red) and applied MAC Morange (bright orange) lipstick overtop to add warmth.

Here's the look pre-wig.

And after the wig, courtesy of Carol’s Wigs.

I think I look pretty ridiculous in the wig, and sticking out my tongue pose after pose to get that winning Miley-esque shot made me cringe a bit. But, as I've said before, one of my favorite aspects of makeup is transformation.

Of course, no Miley look is complete without a filtered Instagram selfie. Enjoy!

  • What do you think of the spiky bottom lash look?
  • Do I look absolutely absurd?
  • Most importantly, what is your stance on wigs?
