Oh, don't pretend like you don't have one!
I cry all the time. Roadkill on the freeway? Tears. Sad song on my playlist? Tears. The slew of animal-rights documentaries (Blackfish, anyone?) I am constantly making myself watch? More tears.
"I just can't help myself," I explain to the friends who sit beside me at the movie theatre while I sob through everything from Les Mis to the Katy Perry movie. "I just feel more than the average person!" And as a result, I mess up my makeup more than the average person, too.
Luckily, I've learned to adapt with a few key products.
STILA WATERPROOF LIQUID LINER
The selling point of Stila Waterproof Liquid Liner for me was that I painted a bit on my hand at Sephora, lived my life and took showers and such for two days, and found the sample mark on my same hand, clear as ever, as if untouched.
I went back and bought my first stick, and we've been together ever since. This stuff will survive almost any level of my tears, from happy reaction to a cheesy commercial to cheated-on-you-with-your-best-friend heartbreak.
This little pot of concealer is the perfect secret weapon to carry around in your purse and use to cover up your red puffy eyes after you read a particularly moving billboard on the way to work. Boi-ing covers evenly and densely, and can help erase redness in mere seconds.
BURT'S BEES WHITE TEA FACIAL WIPES
This little pack of Burt's Bees White Tea Facial Wipes has saved me on so many occasions, it should wear a little superhero cape. They're gentle on my super-sensitive skin, but wipe away those big raccoon eyes when no one shows up to your birthday party, quickly and without any horrid burning feeling.
If you don't have time/money to add all of the above mentioned products to your purse, these wipes are the product to get! They are all-natural and ahhhh-mazing.
