Today I'm excited to share with you guys a relatively new (and affordable!) hair product line that I really like.

Schwarzkopf ULTIME has come to the U.S. for the first time, exclusively at Walmart. Developed with Claudia Schiffer and celebrity hairstylist Richard Collins, the collection has basically everything your hair could ever need. The products are divided into four lines: essence ULTIME (four hair care products for various hair needs), styliste ULTIME (styling products such as hairspray and dry shampoo), color ULTIME (hair color with 26 shades), and Keratin color ULTIME (16 hair colors for mature hair).

Here are the three products that I test drove, and loved.

essence ULTIME Omega Repair & Moisture 11-in-1 Hair Beautifier, $7

First of all, it's important to note that all of the products that I tried (and I assume all of the products in the line) have a strong fragrance. But I really, really like the scent, which I'd describe as flowery and summery.

Fragrance aside, this hair serum is an excellent choice if you're in the market for one. Formulated for "damaged, depleted hair," it's a cream consistency with an easy pump top. You can use it on dry or damp hair, but I prefer it on damp hair after a shower, especially since it's a heat protectant, if I'm blow-drying. It aims to help with split ends, de-tangling, frizz control, softness and smoothness, hydration, and shine. Best of all, it does these things without weighing hair down. The effect on my hair is shiny, bouncy, and less frizzy. Two thumbs up.

styliste ULTIME Biotin + Volume & Texture Luxe Fresh Dry Shampoo, $7

Have I mentioned that I'm a dry shampoo addict? Well, I am. My hair doesn't like to be washed too often, so I love to extend the time in between washes with a good dry shampoo. My requirements: it has to smell good, not leave behind any white residue or stickiness, and adequately soak up oils and leave my hair looking fresh. This one does all of the above, and it really does leave my hair smelling amazing and looking great all day.

styliste ULTIME Crystal Shine & Hold Laminating Shine Hair Spray (Extra Strong Hold), $7

I've really come around on hairspray lately, because I don't always want to use gels and pomades to give my hair some hold and volume. This smells just as good as the dry shampoo and has very impressive hold, sans crunch.

To give you a glimpse at how these products work for my pixie cut, I used the dry shampoo on hair that hadn't been washed in a week, and then used the hairspray to give it some fun volume.

Seriously, all I did was push my hair back from my face with my hand and spray it generously with the hairspray. And it stayed like that.

I will note that I also tried the line's Magic Volume Powder and didn't love it. It felt too sticky and rough-textured, and it was hard for me to work with. But that doesn't take away from how much I loved (and would recommend) the other three products I tried.

  • Are you a Schwarzkopf fan? Any other products they make that I should check out?
  • Have you tried anything from the ULTIME line?
