Bangs, fringe, breakage — whatever you call it, it'll fit in some butterfly clips.
I know what you're wondering going into this long weekend. What are some ways I can wear my hair to the yacht club?
WELL. Here are four yacht-club-worthy hairstyles for when you're feeling fancy. But not too fancy, you know?
These hairstyles are cute and preppy, and apart from donning them for brunch at the aforementioned luxurious yacht club, they'd also be great for a job interview or an office meeting (or even just day-to-day wear).
To start off with, my hair is a little flat and has a little bit of wave from some plaits I slept in the night before.
I've prepped it by giving it a good brush to get out any knots or tangles and applied some heat protectant spray.
For this hairstyle, I used a straightening iron to slightly curl my hair inward, giving it a bouncy look.
Work in sections and start with the straightener at the top of your hair. Then, as you go down the hair, curve the straightener inwards to get this result.
Give it a spritz of hairspray and you're ready to down a glass of champagne while overlooking the Aegean Sea.
This next one is inspired by Brigitte Bardot's classic beehive hairdo, but more prim.
Section the top half of your hair, leaving out your fringe and some hair on either side for later.
Then, tease the top section. The more teasing you do, the more volume you'll get, and the higher your bump will be. Feel free to hairspray as you tease!
Next, gently comb the top of the teased section to smooth it out. Take the section you left out on either side and pin up the bump. Repeat on the other side. It should look like this.
Then you're done! I think this is a particularly good style for anything semi-formal or smart as it looks neat but doesn't look too done up because of the hair that's left out.
Here's a fun look that reminds me of when I was seven. However, when I was that age, my pigtails were high up on the very sides of my head. I like to think of this as the grownup version.
Create a side part with your fringe or the front section of your hair (if you don't have bangs). Then centre-part the rest of it and divide it in to two sections: one of the left, and one on the right.
Gather up all the hair on one side, then secure with a hair tie towards the back, on the lower part of your head. Repeat on the other side.
Pin your fringe to the side and hold down any fly-aways with hairspray or a smoothing serum. And you're done!
This hairstyle is super-cute paired with a pinafore dress and oxfords. I also think it would look great with a deep red lip, sort of creating contrast between something playful and something a little more mature.
Again, this style reminds me of when I was a kid. But it's so fun and cute! As you can see, it's just two classic braids.
It's pretty much like the style before, except you gather each side of hair just behind your ear and plait it neatly.
There you go! Four hairstyles that are preppy and very wearable. Try one of them out and you'll be ready to throw on a pair of loafers, tie a sweater around your shoulders and don a pair of aviators.
- Which one of these are you most likely to try?
- Do you have a preppy side? Is all of you preppy?
