One thing I’m not willing to put up with for good hold is crunchiness.

As far as hair-styling products go, I tend to stick with serums and creams because I like how soft they make my curls feel. Since my hair has grown out a bit, though, I like to add a little mousse for extra hold and body.

One thing I’m not willing to sacrifice for hold is the feel of my hair, but thanks to these three mousses, I don’t have to.

Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Boosting Mousse

On one of Alle’s old articles, Gabi Gregg (who I’m obsessed with, by the way) recommended this mousse to me, so you know I had to snatch it up.

I apply this to wet hair and then, once it dries, I shake my curls out and fluff them up a bit. I find that this gives them great definition and hold throughout the day. The smell on this is pretty strong but fresh, and I like that it’s an affordable option. There is just a bit of crunch to this one, but once I fluff my curls up, most of that is gone.

Nubian Heritage Evoo & Moringa Heat Protect Mousse

As the name would indicate, this mousse is great for heat-styling, specifically when my hair is diffused. It makes my curls super-defined and it keeps them from frizzing up under the heat of the dryer.

I find that this doesn't makes my hair feel crunchy at all, and again, it’s an affordable option.

Davines This is a Curl Moisturizing Mousse

This mousse is the priciest on the list, but it’s also the one that wins for me as far as lack of crunch goes. It keeps my hair soft, just like a serum would, but without weighing it down. The hold is great, and it also controls frizz well.
