Bare Face Or Full Face: You Need This Finishing Powder

What’s the point of spending all this time in front of the mirror getting ready every morning if all of the product is going to smudge or melt off your face by lunch time?

I love a big, dramatic beauty look. I love anything dramatic because I’m the worst. But I’ve got to give it up to the products that help us stay looking natural and flawless on the days when we can’t pop off with the high drama beauty.

AND, I live for a killer finishing product. What’s the point of spending all this time in front of the mirror getting ready every morning if all of the product is going to smudge or melt off your face by lunch time? Keep that shit in its place! I don’t like worrying about touch-ups. I don’t like worrying about anything.

Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Ultra Definition Pressed Finishing Powder is my new BFF because whether I’m wearing it alone or over other products to lock them in place, I know it always has my back.

I feel like a finishing powder isn’t exactly the most exciting product I could write about, but this is one of my secret weapons, and I am telling you about it because I am extremely selfless and want you to be as hot as possible at all times, and feel confident, and love me. Most of all just love me.

Urban Decay has slowly but surely been taking over the entire world with their “Naked” line, and this product is a perfect example of why. The powder itself is crazy smooth and ~silky~. It takes to your skin beautifully without feeling cakey or heavy. Worn alone, it gives your skin a natural veil that blurs imperfections (not that you have any), and the demi-matte finish provides a soft-focus effect that gives your face a subtle luminosity. It’s gorgeous!

The powder is jet-milled. I could pretend to know what that means, but I will admit that I’m only mentioning it because it just sounds cool. I think it means that it makes the powder ultra-fine, because it is, but it’s really anyone’s guess. Regardless, the product is super fine, which is part of what makes it such a dream to apply and wear. Worn over your makeup, it locks it all in place for all day wear, and adds an extra touch of glow.

The big bonus here? Whether you’re wearing it on your mostly bare face like I often do, or over a full face, it cuts shine while still looking natural. No one wants to be shiny, but do you ever notice how it looks odd when someone’s face reflects no light at all? That looks so unnatural to me! I don’t trust that! It’s your face, not a chalkboard! I mean, I know I’m obsessed with glowing 24/7, but I do think that everyone’s face should reflect a little bit of light, just for the sake of looking natural. In my past life I was a disco ball.

Oh, and the compact it’s encased in (I love a compact) is fly as hell. Yes it is 2013 and I am still saying “fly.” Deal.

The gunmetal compact has sexy copper accents and it just screams “You wanna?” Pop it open, and you’ve got the Ultra Definition Finishing Powder, a big fat mirror, and it even comes with a squishy little sponge under the pan so you can throw it on anywhere.

I OPEN AT THE CLOSE.

I love it, and it loves me back. And you will love it to. I promise. Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Ultra Definition Pressed Finishing Powder comes in five shades, and is available at all of those places that you can’t walk out of empty handed for $34.

Do you use any finishing products? I’m also a big fan of Urban Decay’s finishing sprays. Laura Mercier has a finishing powder that doesn’t mess around, too. What do you use? Or do you think they’re a waste of time and skip them all together? Tell me in the comments.

Omg, guys. I met xoJane's very own resident science queen Claire Lower last week! We had so much fun. We talked about beer and marriage.
