It's gonna get sappy up in here.
I have to admit that my Summer's been a bit of a bummer. I've been stuck indoors working my butt off and missing the beach like an old lover. The only thing that's helped me survive the gruelling humidity is mango-banana-orange smoothies and watching "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" in my chilly basement. And testing and trying out new beauty products, of course. Always! I decided to share some of the stand-outs that have made my Summer bearable. Read on and enjoy ...

1. A Beautiful Life Brands Mermaid's Kiss Perfume ($52, abeautifullife.com)
I'm no stranger to A Beautiful Life Brands products, made evident by my previous lovefest over I Heart Unicorns. And they continue the hit parade with their new Summer scent, Mermaid's Kiss. It's a fresh, crispy, yummy perfume that's meant to linger on your skin as you laze on the beach. The Jamaican lime, pineapple and bay rum notes have been giving me Brooke Shields in "Blue Lagoon" vibes (or perhaps Milla Jovovich in the rightfully forgotten sequel?) Whatever it is, It's making me miss the ocean that much more.
2. Nair Soothing Wax Kit With Menthol ($6.95, amazon.com)
If you're going to wax your legs at home, it doesn't get easier than this. This kit includes pre-waxed strips, along with pre-waxing wipes with menthol to soothe your skin, and post-waxing wipes with conditioning oils to make your skin soft, soothe any irritation and remove any remaining wax. I actually used this the first time I ever waxed my legs on my own, and it made the whole situation a lot less frightening. Look, if you're afraid of waxing your legs, just imagine it as wasabi for your skin. You know what I mean! When you're eating sushi, and you have some wasabi, it burns like crazy for a split second, but then it's all good and tasty. Same goes for waxing your legs, except instead of tasty you have smooth, hair-free skin.
3. LCN SPA Orchid Polish Remover($13.90, shoplcnusaretail.com)
I've just been introduced to LCN's products and I'm completely in love, especially with this solvent-free polish remover. It's oil-based and super nourishing for nails and cuticles, all while smelling of delicious tropical vanilla. If you usually wrinkle your nose at nail polish removers, try this. Just don't lick your hands after (you'll be tempted to).
Like my fellow beauty editor Cat, I'm all in favour of a coconut-scented product. This moisturizing shampoo and conditioner both smell like a frothy island cocktail of coconut, papaya and pineapple, as well as being made from natural ingredients and avoiding animal testing, hooray! The smell lingers on your hair afterward, so just look out for fruit flies, they'll be all up in your business.
6. Revlon Crazy Shine Nail Buffer($4.99, amazon.com)
My photo is not doing this product justice AT ALL. Basically it's a two-sided little doohickey that buffs and smooths ridges with one side, then you flip it over and bam, it glossifies (not a word!) your nails to shiny, slick perfection, as if you've just covered them with a coat of clear polish. My only suggestion would be to avoid repeating the process too often, or you'll dull your nails. This is mostly just a note to myself, I got a little too buff-happy, ok?
7. Avon Ultra Colour Rich Lipstick in Poppy Love (currently on sale for $2.99, avon.com)
This is the perfect orangey-red, a colour that's been trendy all spring and summer and is going to look equally awesome, 1940s va-va-voom glamorous through the fall. I'm super excited to wear this highly pigmented, shimmer-free, moisturizing shade paired with my red hair. It's gonna look great.
So, which products have been helping you make it through the summer? And which ones are you excited to use in the fall? Lemme know!
