Having a social justice warrior meme group has brought people into my life who are serious about their politics and also fucking hilarious.
Interested in sexual liberation at your fingertips? Well, of course there’s an app for that. The developers behind Pure aren’t looking to the men to make their new app a hit; they’re hoping that sexually liberated women will get more use out of it. Pure is a mobile location hook-up service, much like all of the other apps currently available under the guise of “dating” apps (Grindr, Blendr & Tinder). The company’s press release claims Pure is “liberating” and “about giving women freedom and choice. It’s “the application that many women have dreamed of, but never dared ask for,” it says. “For women who feel constrained by society’s stricture to be chaste and monogamous, Pure lets them break the bonds as often or occasionally as they choose.”
Oh, so it’s a feminist hook-up app? Or is it a sex-positive hook-up app? Either way, it’s a hook-up app for those want easy access to ass.
Although the app has yet to be approved in the iTunes marketplace, the creators of the app, Roman Sidorenko and Alexander Kukhtenko, said they interviewed women and discovered there was a marketplace for it. Pure “was very positively accepted,” he said. “The idea that they could express their sexual desires how they want and without any shame and judgment — most of the girls liked the idea. There are a lot of ideas in our society about how a woman should behave sexually,” and says, “I personally realize that it’s gonna be tough mission just to get woman into it.”
Well there you have it folks, two men created an app for women to explore their sex-positive and liberating attitudes.
