Gone were the days of cuddling my fiancé to sleep. I was now a mechanical elephant at bedtime — and not even a cute one.
I've felt like a little kid: irrational, scared of the dark, afraid to sleep over at anyone's house lest I humiliate myself.
The worst manifestation for me is sleep paralysis, where I'm awake and totally unable to move, speak or scream for what seems like an hour. It's frequently accompanied by hallucinations, which are always of someone entering the room with a view to attacking while I'm paralysed.
