How can I proceed without making anyone mad?

My ex-fiance was in a car accident a few days ago. The accident was a very severe head-on crash, and he is in the hospital with multiple broken bones. He is in a medically induced coma.
While my ex and I stayed in touch after we broke up, his family and friends hate me. They hated me when we were together, but they hated me more after we broke up. Regardless, my ex and I have remained friends. We talk about once a month, sometimes more, and occasionally we meet for coffee. We each have different significant others now, and we are all comfortable with this. He is more like a brother to me than anything. I am engaged and getting married next year. He has been dating another girl for over two years now.
The problem is this: I would like to go see him in the hospital once he is conscious, but literally no one wants me there. My family stayed close with my ex and they would like to go see him, too. His family and friends will not update me on his condition. I have been in touch with his girlfriend, but she keeps saying she "doesn't know anything" or hasn't heard "anything new." How can I proceed without making anyone mad? The last thing his family needs is extra drama, but at the same time, I would like to show my support and go see him when he wakes up. Help!

How can she support her ex? Can she? Should she? Let her know in the comments!
