YOU ARE THE ADVICE COLUMNIST: I'm Not Registered Anywhere For My Wedding, Is That Weird?

Is it wrong to ask for cash and giftcards for a wedding present?

My fiance and I are getting married this October and we've started getting questions about where we are registered. Quite frankly, I feel bad saying we aren't registered anywhere. Everyone will think we just want cash. ( Which is technically true, we're paying for most of the wedding ourselves. I work full time as a receptionist and my fiance only gets Disability. ) Right now he and I live with his parents. We don't plan on moving out until next year and the house already has all the needed cookware and bath towels. Sure, when we finally do take the plunge into apartment renting, we will need all of these things. But living in a one bedroom house, with four adults, three cats, and a dog, we really don't have room for anything extra. What do I say to people who ask me where I'm registered? What if they press me for gift ideas? I know some people don't like giving cash or giftcards, what do I say to them? I don't want to register for unneeded housewares, please help!
