At 12, my daughter is no longer blissfully unaware of things like thigh gaps and juice cleanses.

To help ease my cravings for cake, pie, fried chicken, and muffins, I’ve become a bit of a virtual food porn whore.
I’m not trying to be hard on you, fashion magazines. It’s just that you seem to be indulging some weird phobia about putting a plus-sized woman on your cover in any circumstances other than a flapping tent or an extreme close-up.
Our size difference is so noticeable, in fact, that when a mutual friend introduced us, even she couldn’t get behind the idea that we’d somehow form a relationship.
Is there a name for seeing a bad photo of yourself that takes your self-esteem from 60 to 0 in a half second?

I’m trying to figure out why I’ve been alone this long, because I’m kind of sick of it. (And everyone at xoJane is sick of hearing about it.)

If you looked at me now, or looked at me in 2003, I was 163 pounds both times. But what was going on inside my body was completely different.
A misguided woman wrote a letter to an advice columnist who gave at the very least poor advice, and this truly disgusting video was made to illustrate it all.
It felt like the ultimate betrayal when the 190-something pound body that I had come to love and feel beautiful in started to melt away.

Also, if nobody ever said "manorexia" again I would be totally fine with that.
