sexual assault
Stop me if you've heard this one before: the Senate Armed Services Committee just held a hearing on military sexual assault, and they didn't invite any rape survivors to testify.
sexual assault
The dehumanisation of unconscious people is part of a larger culture that also dehumanises conscious people.
sexual assault
If I never see the words "seduced," "had sex with," "affair," "forced her to have sex," and so on in a headline about a rape case again, it will be too soon.
date rape
It has recently come to my attention that some folks are having trouble when it comes to learning how not to rape, so I thought I would put together a little 101 for you in the interest of public service.
rape
I had no real context or knowledge of what happened in a legal or social sense. I just knew I had a fresh, healing tattoo, and that I hated the person who gave it to me.
college
I chose Chico State for its journalism program, pretty brick buildings and small town feel, and have stayed despite what the media calls our “sexual assault problem.”
groping
The assault against me was the first in a series of 14 unique attacks against women in and around my neighborhood over the last three months. Police have released a sketch of the man’s face, but no arrests have been made.
rape culture
That room was full of “cool” guys, progressives, radicals even. And still they saw the world as an episode of Perry Mason where men accused or convicted of crimes against women and children were innocent, and the truth would come out in the end.
rape
Sometimes our front page looks like the RAPE RAPE RAPE montage or the front page of RAPE DIGEST and I just have to close the tab and sigh deeply.

crime
This, right here, is what we talk about when we talk about “rape culture,” that a group of men should be struck senseless in the face of rape, rather than being moved to step in or get to safety and call the police.
rape
The tensions over whether the victim’s name should be revealed, both in India and beyond, highlight ongoing debates about privacy for victims, especially in the wake of a death, when victims can’t speak for themselves.
another country
This was what my abroad semester was for, I thought determinedly: to try to run at every wall and see if I could climb it before the skin on my palms gave way and I fell to the ground.
rape
I’m proud of her for standing up, for advocating for other women, and for smashing rape myths in the face.
sexual assault
If you're wondering why survivors of sexual assault don't want to report it, this is why.
issues
Before submitting this story, I did a search for "cab" on xoJane. To my surprise and horror, Emily had a very similar experience with someone who must have been the exact same cab driver six or seven years ago, which means he is probably still out there.
rape
A nice cheerful post for a Thursday morning!

politics
Like, seriously? This is the depth to which political discourse has sunk? We now need to get all excited and actively praise a politician for saying that rape is a crime and it should be taken seriously?
sexual assault
vagina vagina vagina
You’ve got to keep your vagina under lock and make sure to keep a close eye on it so it doesn’t run off, because other people can’t be blamed when they see a vagina just lying around and decide to take it.
rape
You can’t base decisions at the polls on one thing someone said once, and I’m tired of the media acting like you should.

rape
Rape on college and university campuses across the US is a systemic problem, and so is the lack of action on the part of officials, many of whom want to suppress rape reporting as much as possible because it would make them look bad.
halloween
Waterboarding, sexual assault and forced ingestion of bodily fluids -- does this sound like a good time to you?
