Looking back on our afternoons spent running around, "whinnying" as horses, or making all manner of Ninja Turtle sounds around the neighborhood -- it's a kind of carefree, whimsy I now ache for.
I have the kind of depression that is really, really difficult for other people to deal with.
I wasn’t about to call him and tell him -- no one “calls” on the “telephone” anymore. So there was only one thing to do: block him on Facebook.
I decided to trust Eric, believing his relationship with Angie was clearly innocent. Yeah, that didn’t work out so well -- they got engaged last month.
Here are a few of the familiar types of lady-friendships that may require an eventual breakup (or at least someone getting a drink thrown in her face).
betty who
I know, I know. Going to events by yourself can be terrifying. But it's also a great way to make new friends, have an adventure or at least get out of your comfort zone a little.
We stuck together. That is, until we grew out of it.

it happened to me
the frisky
I’ve fostered toxic friendships with all the classic “types” that my friends have dated (and regretted dating): the manipulator, the sad sack, the emotional vampire, the drama magnet, the mean girl.
When we started dating, I felt a communal cringe within our clique: What if this doesn’t work out? Well, it didn’t, and our social situation has been screwed ever since.
When my friends tell me that they want to help, I totally understand what they are saying, and I love them for offering, but I kind of wish they wouldn't.
being kind to yourself
I'm in a relationship with myself, and it's pretty great.
summer camp
I still get nostalgic when I think about my camp days (and in the summertime, those days pop into my head often). Anyone else? Let's swap camp stories!
When someone flakes out on me consistently, my shit gets sloppier than Nicholas Cage.
new moms
New Mom Friends are a necessity, much like wide swaddling blankets and good, supportive bras.

At the end of the day, my experience in local theatre was tremendously instructive when it came to interacting with people, building relationships, and behaving professionally.
Friends and money are both big parts of our lives, so overlap is almost inevitable. That overlap, though, can be fraught.

book clubs
I would rather just read the damn book myself.
anonymous single girl
Women’s friendships, especially in adulthood, are perhaps the most complicated, peculiar and delicate match-ups of all.

Guess what, getting in a car accident and snapping your spine really sucks and it’s OK to talk about that.
After our vows were exchanged, thank you notes sent, and the honeymoon pictures were posted onto Facebook, my friends kind of ... just stopped calling.
