I call bullshit here: the larger rape culture is giving teenage boys a pass to say that they “have no intention to be hostile or demeaning” when they are being just that, as if they just behave boorishly by accident.
Flirtexting distinguishes itself from sexting by being, well, lamer. The idea is to constantly let the other person know you are thinking of them without being like “im so wet rit now.”
I'm a textbook extrovert, but when I meet new people -- particularly at the office -- it's like my brain resets and I go into hyper flirtatious mode.
Lots of dudes seem to think that there's no higher compliment to pay a lady than to tell her they like the novel she's reading. Are they being friendly, or are they being freaking obnoxious?
I have friends who complain about being approached by strangers all the time. I don't know that life. It fascinates me.
