Hollywood execs and film festival programmers will cite that it’s not technically their jobs to promote equality in the industry and that they know there are great women filmmakers out there, but gosh-golly they just don’t know where to look!

Magic Mike: It’s a great movie, one that reimagines tired gender roles in new and interesting ways.
I am excited to learn it’s a Melissa McCarthy feature –- and doubly excited I will be playing one of 17 Midwestern women dancing and cheering on a male stripper. YES.
