This album is widely successful because it makes women feel good about themselves. I can see how that might be confusing for some.
This album is a celebration of the marriage of privilege and intellectual movement that a lot of black women—particularly Southern, Christian black women of this mold, which I am also a part of—do not have access to and are not allowed to attain.
