Every comment is a brick in the bridge to whatever comes next for us.
Charlotte's 7-year-old friend introduced Charlotte to makeup over a vacation we all had together recently, and now she's really into it.
I don't tell her not to do it; I just leave out this nice makeup remover and some cotton pads and swabs for her to use (I don't use it myself; I either sleep in my makeup or just wash it off with all the regular dirt with my facewash within three days or so of application).
I actually moved all of the makeup onto a lower shelf so that she could reach it. I don't see any harm in letting Char experiment with makeup if she wants to. My radio producer tried to make me feel better about it by saying that my daughter probably looks "theatrical"; in reality, the style is more "hooker."
On the way to McDonalds (I know -- EVIL) the other night, some friends asked if she'd been at a face-painting party. I thought she looked fun and awesome. Lipstick, mascara well-applied on upper and lower lashes, powder eye-shadow, blush and voila! Hate me below, especially those of you with older daughters who can see my future. xxo
