I am a mental health professional with mental health issues  and a history of heavy drug use. In my personal life I have been very open about my illness and past, and (mostly) don't have shame about it. However, I haven't disclosed anything  to my colleagues, because it's an unfortunate fact that stigma exists in mental health professions at least as much as in the rest of society. I'm wary of being "othered" as a "patient/client", and of people interpreting my passion for my clients as a negative.
I want to be open, and decrease stigma, but i don't want my career to ever be impacted. What should I do?

What do you think she should do? Should she come out as somebody with mental health issues? Or keep it to herself? Let her know what you think in the comments below!
