A lot of people aren’t big breakfast eaters and others have the problem of getting anything down in the morning. I am not one of them: I can eat at any time, anywhere -- you name it and I’ll be there, son.
However, for you ladies with a more delicate stomach, this smoothie is perfect for those mornings when you don’t really feel like a full English (eww) or when you’re in a hurry. It’s also a great energy booster before going to the gym since it’s packed with natural fruit sugars, which will make you the freaking queen of Zumba at 7 am. Believe me -- been there, done that.
For this smoothie you will need:
- Half a cup of coconut cream
- One banana
- One squeezed orange
- One Kiwi One cup of Spinach
Mix everything with a cup of water, pour it in your gym bottle and you’re ready to go. If I have a really hard workout at the gym, Rocky II style, I add in some hemp protein powder just to prolong my endurance and give me the extra push I need.
Hemp protein has omega 3 and 6 fats as well as chlorophyll, vitamin E and iron. A super food, in other words, which helps you refuel even as you’re working out.
The coconut is not actually a fruit, but a nut, and it has some amazing properties. Medical studies show that it kills off bacteria, fungus and yeast as well as boosting your energy levels and enhancing physical performance. In other words: the perfect gym pal.
As for the fruit, there’s a lot of debate whether too much fruit is bad for you, considering all the sugar in them, but being a natural food lover, I have a hard time believing in the evils of fruit, these little blobs of sweet nutrition, courtesy of our Mother Earth.
I believe that you should eat everything in moderation, but if something makes you feel good -– and I’m not talking about “Mm-mm, this Snickers sure makes me feel GOOD” but more like “Oh, this buckwheat oatmeal sure is healthy and makes me feel good,” then go for it.
So blend these fruits, bless it with your thoughts and you’re ready to go!
