Remember those "Weird *Fill In Your State Name* travel guides?
Ed is researching potential destinations.

Ed is researching potential destinations.

I am writing this way earlier than I usually would because Ed and I are planning to hit the road for a short little Florida road trip. We have some general plans because our specific ones got too complicated -- and rather than freak out about it, we are going with the flow and adapting.

(Thank you, meds, for making this possible.)

Also, we are trying to dig up our copy of "Weird Florida," a travel guide we actually bought on our honeymoon road trip and then lost in the depths of our combined bookshelves. (So many books, y'all.) "Weird Florida" is not written by the original "Weird US" guys but it's part of the series of other state-specific guides.

Whether or not we find the book, we'll be skipping the more efficient highway in favor of the scenic route, and hopefully we'll find some interesting and strange stuff along the way.

It also means we may or may not get to visit the spot I've been wanting to road trip to for literally years: the Coral Castle. If we make it down there, I'll tell you all about it.

And in the meantime, I really want to know: what's your favorite weird local spot? It doesn't have to be haunted or inexplicable -- this doesn't have to be Creepy Corner territory. Every town has something in it that defies explanation. Share it with us, please.

While you consider, enjoy these Comments of the Week -- because comments were on fire this week, there are actually three that were right up there and rather than narrow it down, I'm giving you all the proverbial crown.

First, we have user urmambleyagging, on "I'M THE "CRAZED TWILIGHT FAN" WHO MARRIED A ROBERT PATTINSON CARDBOARD CUTOUT SO I COULD BECOME MRS. EDWARD CULLEN":

Claymation children, yes!

Next, we have users MeowMix and Covered In Bees, on "UNPOPULAR OPINION: WE REALLY DON’T HAVE A FUTURE TOGETHER IF HE WANTS OUR IMAGINARY KIDS TO EAT LIKE CRAP":

That icon from Covered In Bees just makes the comment exchanges even better.

And, finally, there is Claire -- or should I say, there is Claire's husband, who is a super awesome person, on "YOU DESERVE BETTER THAN A COSTUME IN A BAG: MY TOP TIPS FOR DIYING AN AWESOME HALLOWEEN COSTUME":

So great.

So great.

I don't think I can top that picture of Turniphead, so let's just leave things there, shall we? Thanks for the amazing comments -- and for spending the weekend with me! I'll see you next weekend -- have a fantastic week.
