Mah belly

Back when I tried out my plus-size bikini, I showed you the above photo of my belly, in all its loose-skinned, stretchmarked glory. And you guys seemed to like it! You said stuff like:

And this:

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THIS:

Oh reeeeeally? Here's your chance, because  as of right now we arenow starting the xoJane Real Girl Belly Project, in which YOU send in photos of your beautiful stomachs. Here's how it works: Take or get a friend to take a CLEAR photo of your stomach similar to the above. Natural light is best, but if you can't get to a window, make sure it is bright enough to see. If your picture is too poor quality, we won't be able to use it.

Then just send your belly photo to emily@xojane.com to be part of the belly gallery. You can include the word "anonymous," which lets me know you don't want your belly to be identified, or you can include your name and age, but either way, please also include one good thing about your belly.

We'll start!

Jane says: I like how malleable it is at this stage in my life, which is why I sent in two photos, one after a few days of double lunches.

Madeline says: A good thing about my belly is that my belly button is nice and shallow, easy to clean!

MC Housework says: "I have a bad-ass C-section scar."

Lesley says: I love my belly because it's mine -- the only one I have -- and because my acceptance and appreciation for it was hard-won. Also, it kinda looks like it's smiling.

Helena says: I love my slight hour glass. It's subtle but that gentle curve is all I need.

Jennifer Lemons says: 40 years, two kids, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, cesarean, PCOS. My belly is a scrapbook of my life and I love it.

Olivia says: I am so down with my happy trail!

Julie says: "I like how it looks deceptively muscular considering my lack of physical activity."

Jenny says: I like that my belly provides a cozy and doughy-soft expanse for my chihuahua to curl up on when we take a nap together. TMI? See? It's so easy! Now join in the fun and send me those belly pics to emily@xojane.com. Don't be shy! The whole point is to see what most women's bellies look like, as opposed to the Photoshopped supermodel bellies we exlusively see. Consider us the 99 percent. Of bellies.
