As you all know (and are, perhaps, tired of hearing about-- but I don't care), we have spent the better part of the last week working out of Ms. Love's West Village townhouse. What an incredible experience. I have to be honest about something, though. When Jane first brought the idea up (and Courtney eagerly agreed) I was nervous about it. Truly nervous. For many reasons, not the least of which was the idea that we might not actually get any real work done. We would be in the home of a mega-famous Rock Goddess (who I have always loved and play in heavy rotation on my iPod), who happens to be one of Jane's closest friends, who also happens to be a notorious night-owl. What work would we really do?
As it turns out, this was one of the best weeks I have had in recent memory at xoJane. We were all surprisingly focused, inspired and efficient. I don't know if it was the crystals all over the place balancing energy, or the smell of cupcakes and the taste of red velvet cake (which were always replenished whenever they ran low), or the perfume that continuously (and pleasantly) wafted through the house. Whatever it was, it made for an awesomely unforgettable week during which a ton of photos were taken, memories made and great work was accomplished.
Courtney is awesome. Seriously. And she always smells DELISH! She was also very focused and helpful in our work and went out of her way to make sure we had what we needed when we needed it. (Courtney's house manager, Hershey, was a blessing too!) The fact that Jane got to spend so much time with one of her nearest and dearests was great to be a part of. Jane was so happy. I like seeing Jane happy (as you all know). I am going to miss that place and Courtney. Thanks for the amazing week, Courtney Love!
In other xoJane news, we are totally ramping up to the holidays. You have probably seen our gift guides pop up over the past week or two. New York has been bustling with all sorts of holiday activity. I love this time of year. Holiday time means holiday parties and SAY media threw one to remember (or, for some, to not).
There was bowling (Mad put bowling shoes on-- never actually threw a bowling ball, though), karaoke (Claire, one of our Production Managers, should compete in the World Karaoke Championship--serously. You should hear her rendition of Donna Summer's "Last Dance"), open bar and a TON of great food. This place can certainly throw one heckuva shindig. Once again, I only snapped like two photos with my phone. Here they are:
That's about it from these parts. I hope you all are enjoying this festive season as much as we have been. Don't forget to check out all the cool gift guides we have been posting! Oh, CRAP! Speaking of gifts, I almost forgot. I need your help. What should I get Charlotte and Jane for Christmas? Send ideas! It does NOT have to be expensive or fancy (could even be free)-- just meaningful. Perhaps there will be something in it for the person with the best idea? Shhhh- don't tell Jane I asked this. Thanks and XO for now.
