Guys, you are amazing. After we put up the xoJane Real Girl Belly Project last week, we were inundated with more and more photographs, taken by you, of your unaltered bellies. Seriously, my inbox is chock-ful of bellies, and your seriously inspiring stories. True story: I HAVE CRIED.
One of you wrote a poem! To quote Amanda, 35: "Mirror, mirror, on the wall /Why must I compare to all/ The airbrushed bellies I have seen/ Idealized on page and screen?/ Instead, I vow that I will dare/ To love, appreciate, and share/My belly, be it round or flat. /Hey Media, whatcha think of that?"
This gallery includes brown bellies, scarred bellies, innies and outies, bellies with insulin pumps, TWO bellies that have donated a kidney, bellies that have held babies and bellies that hope to hold babies one day. I've gotten so many bellies that I could fill another gallery after this one if you guys say you want it. I don't want to drown you in bellies, but I hate to leave anyone out!
Check out bellies, part deux, and go back and see the first gallery if you missed it. Thank you to all of you who have contributed for the comfort and inspiration you've spread!
