French Sole Visa Pumps, $169.00 (on sale from $210.00)
This challenges all notions of a ballet flat...it's a ballet PUMP. Just enough heel height to make me feel a smidge more confident at work and at bars, but so classy and comfy. I can't imagine what they won't look good with. French Sole New York is practically an Upper East Side institution, at least in my book. Their shoes aren't cheap, but they truly stand the test of time.

Haruki Murakami is one of my favorite authors (and I have trouble buying myself hardbacks for some reason). I can't wait to devour 925 pages of his work. In case you were wondering what this book's about, I lifted this from Strand's site: A love story, a mystery, a fantasy, a novel of discovery, a dystopia to rival George Orwell’s –1Q84 is Haruki Murakami’s most ambitious undertaking yet…. The year is 1984 and the city is Tokyo. A young woman named Aomame follows a taxi driver’s enigmatic suggestion and begins to notice puzzling discrepancies in the world around her. She has entered, she realizes, a parallel existence, which she calls 1Q84 -- “Q is for ‘question mark.’ A world that bears a question.” Meanwhile, an aspiring writer named Tengo takes on a suspect ghostwriting project. He becomes so wrapped up with the work and its unusual author that, soon, his previously placid life begins to come unraveled.

Astrology Charm Bracelet, $36.00
I wouldn't say I'm "really into" astrology, but I am very proud to be a Gemini. This delicate little charm bracelet will go well with my Shashi friendship bracelets and Kenneth Jay Lane bangles. And it will be a constant reminder of my split personality...

@TwitterID #Hashtage Necklaces, price varies
More individualistic jewelry that no one can steal from me! I'm @madelinelou on Twittter and so badly want that on a necklace. Follow me? Buy me this necklace? To give you an idea of price, my necklace would cost $70 ...that is without the extras like diamonds, sapphires, or rubies and with a simple silver chain. Not bad. And if I wanted to step up my game and get a blinged-out necklace I would add emeralds to mine (my birth stone). Me, me, me!!

Know why I love kitchens and bathrooms? Because decorating them really provides an outlet for the kitschy, corny, girly area of my brain (the one that's obsessed with Hello Kitty). Other corners of my brain, like the one that decorates the bedroom, are much more sophisticated.
This Lisa Frank golden retriever cookie jar would fit right in in my adorable little Brooklyn kitchen. I would bake biscuits to go with vegetarian chili and the biscuits would live inside this dog.

I'm a bundle of contradictions! The next thing on my wishlist is this new and updated version of Josef Koudelka's 1975 photography book. Koudelka took these photographs between 1962 and 1971 in what was then Czechoslovakia. While my ancestors were already in the United States by 1930s, I have Roma blood and can't help but feel a deep connection to these images. There is also so much to look at in each photo -- so many new sources of inspiration.
I tend to jump from baking holiday cookies and putting them in my puppy cookie jar to blasting some Nick Nicely or Sigur Ros, lighting a Diptyque, and looking at photos like these. Yup. Geminis are freaks.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blush, $7.99
I barrel through dry shamps, and this one is my favorite. It smells fantastically powdery, drugstore-y and girly without stinking up the entire room. I use so much that it helps blend my roots with my ash-blonde highlights. It also permits me to wash my hair only 2-3 times a week so it doesn't get too dried out-- it's so long and healthy (mermaid length if you know what I mean).
I'd love it if someone bought me a case for Christmas because really, I buy a new bottle every two weeks. If you prefer a less powdery, sexier scent, I'm also a fan of their Diva dry shampoo -- the purple bottle has a disco balls and lasers theme (it's for party girls who don't wash their hair!) and is a cute addition to your vanity...in my opinion. OMG, and they have a Gold Shimmer version (for NYE, naturally).

Just buy these for me. It's not a big deal.

Versace Yellow Diamond Eau de Toilette (to be released Spring 2012)
Well done, Donatella! I don't know how something can smell so elegant and so edible at the same time. Versace describes its newest fragrance as "an encounter of rays of light that surprises, moves, fascinates. An authentic jewel of rare beauty." We can also quote Rihanna on this one, "Yellow Diamonds in the light. And we're standing side by side." Trust me, Donatella and Rihanna on this one.
