Hey there, hi there, ho there, and welcome back to Recipe of the Week! Last week was fun for me, as I got to see some really creative uses for Oreos. There were Oreo balls, Oreo pies, Oreo cocktails, and even a recipe for homemade Oreos! There was SO much goodness in this thread, and I will definitely be bookmarking it for future use.

The winning recipe is an old friend of mine. I'm not sure who "invented" them or gave them their slightly scandalous name, but I do know I first came accross them on The Londoner, and I used to make them for pretty much every gathering I was invited to. (I'm not sure why I stopped.) So thank you Teensyslews for bringing them back into my repertoire. They were due for a comeback.

Slutty brownies for oreo usage all the way.

Make up a batch of your favourite chocolate cookie batter. Add a little extra oil/butter/whatever makes it moistSpray down a brownie pan and smoosh in the cookie batterLay oreos over top the cookiesMake a batch of brownie batter, your choice of recipePour it over the oreosBake at (brownie recipe temperature) for 15-30 mins longer than the brownie recipe calls for, until brownies are set

For maximum laziness just use box cookie dough and brownie batter. Warning: will cause sugar coma.

One of my favorite things about these brownies is how easy they are to make. I guess you could make the cookie dough and brownie batter from scratch, but you really do not need to. In fact, I encourage you not to. Box brownies and cookies just seem to "match" Oreos, ya know?

Oh. Important note: Those "Golden" Oreos aren't your basic Goldens, those are these:

The result was sweet sweet perfection.

Just look at those layers.

Just look at those layers.

I have not yet met a soul who wasn't rendered powerless by their majesty.

It's up to you, but I always undercook the brownie a bit. It creates a kind of molten chocolate cake situation that is out of this world.

TL;DR MAKE THESE BROWNIES.

If there was ever a reader deserving of a trophy, it's Teensyslews. Your trophy m'dear is "Caravan" by Van Morrison because, like Slutty Brownies, it is a treasure from the past that I used to enjoy all the time, but then quit for some reason. (Also I listened to it about fifteen times in the last twenty fours hours so it's the only song I can think of right now.)

Moving on with enthusiasm! This week we're going to do a reader-suggested topic, and that topic is cookies! Not like, Oreos, but homemade cookies, so channel your most competitive bake-sale mom and get to typing!

Personally, I rarely bake cookies, because I'm very much into cookie dough. Seriously, I have a slab of dough in the freezer that I just slice and eat whenever the mood strikes. I have yet to contract salmonella. What I'm saying is, I hope the winning cookies actually make it in the oven.

I should just quit painting my nails.

I should just quit painting my nails.

(Also, small note: I will be traveling all next week and far away from my kitchen, so I won't be able to post the results until October 13th, at which point we will resume with our normally scheduled programming. So don't freak out, but know that I will miss you very much.)
