My mom is a lot lighter than I am in terms of weight. She constantly goes to the gym and spends time cooking and making green smoothies. I work full time and I’m about to go back to school to get my masters. I try to go the gym, but not as much as I should in her opinion. I’ve told her that my schedule is crazy and I don’t have the time she has. She doesn’t work anymore just devotes her life to staying thin. She’s constantly telling me that I should lose weight, and that she just wants me to be happy. She says things like, “you could be so pretty if you just lost some weight,” or “I just want to have grandkids one day.” I find it incredibly hurtful and I’ve told her so but she says that she’s my mother and its her job to make me a better person. I’ve tried cutting off contact with her but she’s my mother and I love her and she doesn’t have anyone else. I’m an only child and she’s divorced from my dad. I just need help getting through to her. Any advice?
