What You Need:
1. Hot Glue Gun and Plenty of Glue Sticks.
Mine is pink, I have several because I can't ever find one when I need one. That's what I'm like, It's annoying.
2. 1 Sheet of average craft felt.
3. Patches or Appliques of Your Choice.
My choice is 1 1/2" red sequin heart appliques I found on Amazon.
4. Shoe Clip Blanks.
Mine are authentic "Bluette Made In France" clips because that sounds fancy and I take it where I can get it. And I get it at TheBarretteFactory on Etsy. -
1. Lay your appliques out on your felt (yes, I'm really going step by step like this). -
2. Trace your appliques/patches with a pen or marker your can see well. I use a Sharpie (Sharpie, feel free to send me Sharpies). I know, I hold my pen really weird.
-
3. Cut around these inside the line. They will be the backing of your clips and a little smaller is better than a little bigger so you won't see it peeking through from the front. Make sense?
-
4. Observe your two hearts (I don't know). Ooo yeah, also cut into your felt heart at the top to acommodate the clip when it's closed. It needs to go a little deeper in the middle (if i had a nickel...).
-
5. Determine the placement of your clip so you know where to squirt your hot glue.
-
6. Gratuitous pink glue gun pic
-
7. Place your clip on the glue. Press a little, but basically just let it dry. Hot glue knows its job. -
8. Shoot hot glue around the edge of your appliques and in the middle. Line up your felt heart and lay it on top.
-
9. Press around to make sure everything is attached. So here's a little behind the curtain for you, I actually postpone and procrastinate DIY posts if my nail aren't done. Break down and do my nails, voila: no more excuses.
-
10. Let these babies dry and you're all done.

I will put these on anything and everything, including sweaters and coats and stuff, I'm thinking. My crazy Adidas are my "street" shoes. I LOVE THE STREETS
-
This is the sweetest: use 2 sets of clips, one for the toes and one for the ankles. They'll hate to see you leave, but they'll love to watch you go.

This frame (painted by my niece Molly) was holding down my brown paper and snuck into a couple pics. The photo is a McPadden Nieces and Nephew Coney Island Day from a couple years ago, my favorite kind of day. I miss that pink hair. My husband looks so brutal!
