What YOU Taught Us About Style This Week: You're Never Fully Dressed Without Big Ol' Glasses
You guys are adorable. Sure, sometimes we fight, but overall this has become a great space to share outfits and lovingly gawk at each other. I am going to go out on a limb and say xoJane has some of the most fashionable readers on the Internet. Which is probably why we've decided to switch up this post so that it's all about your inspiring looks. (We also took an informal survey in the office and decided it was getting pretty boring showing you our outfits. I mean, if you've seen Baze in one black dress, you've seen 'em all.)
Every Friday, in place of Outfit Of The Week, I will be poring over your uploaded outfits and choosing my favorite items exclusively from YOU. So show off what you're wearing, but not just in the comments -- Instagram and tweet us, too! Use the hashtag #xoMyStyle and I’ll spend my weekend getting lost in a stream of your awesome clothes, shoes and accessories. And come next week, you just might be one of the stars of our new column.
To kick things off this Friday, we've got our eyes on, well, your eyes. Eye glasses to be exact. Behold three chic-to-death readers who are making us want to upgrade our glasses game right NOW.
First, let’s take a look at lobasalvaje’s sweet girl take on large frames.
I love me a good strong tortoise shell frame -- who doesn't? It’s a timeless pattern that looks great with just about everything, but lobasalvaje here found a brilliant way to inject some hotness into the classic look. She paired her glasses with bright red lips and a matching cardigan, which really brings out the warm tones in the frames. Sexy librarian? No, this is just straight-up sexy.
Next up, ssid and her oversized, deliberatley geeky frames. She is just going for it here with two statement pieces (the glasses and the colorful printed blazer) and it's working. And as she expertly demonstrates, it's best to give jewelry or other distracting accessories the day off when you're wearing frames this big.
Sometimes, you want some big ol' frames with a little more KA-POW. Wonkyone15 got just that with her polka-dotted pair. Unexpected patterns on frames are a fun, instant outfit-maker. I love bright colors with this look, but wear solids so everybody knows exactly where to look. Up here, straight in the eyes, thank you.
Alright guys, it's your turn! Show me all of your outfits, things you wish you could buy, other people’s outfits, anything that inspires your closet and tweet and Instagram with the hashtag #xoMyStyle. You can still leave your outfits in the comments here, obviously I’ll be looking at them. I just want to give you all options to show me your stuff WHEREVER AND WHENEVER YOU FEEL LIKE IT.
