Golden Ponies: The Cutest Ethical Accessories I’ve Ever Seen
I generally have a hard time when it comes to finding shoes. For one, I’m quite picky. I don’t like patent or anything too stiff. I don’t like any silver detailing (all gold all the way). I can’t afford designer, but I don’t want fast fashion, and perhaps most important, I do my best to avoid any new leather. Of course vintage shoes are great, but finding something in my size that accommodates my horrid foot shape is an almost impossible feat.
As a result of my shoe shopping woes, I tend to wear my shoes until they literally fall apart. Holes, missing soles, broken heels -- I’ve experienced it all. I’ve had cobblers look at the heels I am trying to have repaired and laugh in my face. I guess I have a hard time letting go of my broken down old pairs because it’s so hard for me to find something new that I like. But then, I found Golden Ponies.
Golden Ponies is everything I want in a brand. Handmade and designed in Mexico by Erandi Gutiérrez, the shoes are made to order based on your personal preferences. Of course there are some ready-made products as well, but most of the items (including bags and wallets) are totally custom. There are a ton of different colour options, including metallic gold, textured glitter and iridescent rainbow. Plus, many of the fabrics are vegan and you can make special vegan leather requests for any of the items in the shop!
The best part? Golden Ponies are SO affordable! Non-fast fashion shoes in the $50 price range are almost unheard of, and yet most Golden Ponies clock in at about $46. I’ve just ordered my first pair and I'm eagerly awaiting their arrival in the mail (hologram vegan sandals for the win), but I just couldn’t wait to share this find with you lovely folks. I’ll be sure to report back on quality and such when they arrive, but until then I’ll be lazily clicking and dreaming up every shoe I could ever want in the near future on the Golden Ponies website.
Did I mention they make cute bags and wallets too?
