You'll Take Your Eye Out! Man, I Love Dangerous Accessories

I love studs and spikes on anything and everything. I think it's a holdover from the studded leather DOG COLLAR I bought from a SUPERMARKET when I was THIRTEEN and continued to wear every day until I was 18. Oh, the shame. It's palpable. But whatever! Studs are awesome!

Thankfully, I'm not the only one who thinks so.  In fact, if you've stuck your head inside pretty much any store in the last couple of months, you may have noticed the proliferation of pointy sharp things.

Since one of my very favourite things to do is trawl the internet for stuff to add to a cart that I will later abandon, I decided to mix business with pleasure and bring you a collection of my favourite dangerous accessories.

Let me know if you buy anything, OK?!  Send photos!

  • These shoes are so goddamn impractical but I LOVE LOVE LOVE them!

  • ASOS Pointed Stud Leather Collar

I really love this whole detachable collar thing that's going on.  I'm sure in a few years it will seem completely ridiculous, just like scrunchies or layering three different coloured socks. But for now, I love the idea of wearing this to dress up a T-shirt.

I've been feeling the need to make my style feel a little more "adult," recently, so this would (kind of) fit the bill. But then, my new favourite T-shirt features Barbie's face inside an inverted pentagram, so maybe I don't want to be an adult after all.

  • Steve Madden Extraa Flats

This is a great option for (sane) girls who have learned to JUST SAY NO to obsessive stiletto wearing. Your un-bunions thank you. This shoe is a little bit Michael Jackson, a little bit psychotic ballerina.

  • Tequila Star Metal Spike Headband

Full disclosure: I own this, and it's pretty fantastic. When I wear it, I feel like the Statue of Liberty gone wrong. Of course, it doesn't help that I am also carrying a torch, holding a tablet and wearing sandals.

  • Baseball cap with spikes and gems

God, this is so extremely over-the-top. I want to wear it to Atlantic City.

  • Steve Madden Hyperr Heels

Look, the truth is, I feel sorry for people who spend oodles on Louboutins only to have Mr. Madden come along and rip them off two months later. It's gotta hurt. Anyway, the upside is that those of us who don't have $2k to spend on a pair of impractical shoes can dabble in the trend for a fraction of the price.

  • Floral rhinestone studded wedges

OK, I officially need these. You know, if you listen to Courtney Love as an impressionable teenager, the "kinderwhore" aesthetic never truly leaves you.

  • Steve Madden Hazzzard Heels

I think this is the most wearable of the spiky shoes we've seen, by which I mean they're subtle -- well, almost -- and they have an ankle strap. I think I'm getting old, I hate wearing shoes without an ankle strap these days.

  • Barneys Originals Studded Leather Gilet

It takes a certain kind of girl to rock a studded leather gilet, which is a fancy word for "a jacket with the arms cut off." This model is certainly pulling it off. I mean, she is wearing a tie-dyed T-shirt under the thing and she is killllllllin' it.

  • Blue Valley Stud Leather Biker Jacket

This is much more wearable: It's simply a leather motorcycle jacket with studs on the lapels & epaulettes. It's pretty much perfect. If you don't own a motorcycle jacket already, I recommend getting one, or at least trying one on. You'll probably be surprised by how great it looks, and how versatile it is. I wear mine constantly!

  • Steve Madden Awwsome Heels

Glitter and studs. These are statement shoes, for sure. I don't really know what to say about them, except that they are really obnoxious and that is probably why I feel like I can't live without them.

  • Gienchi Silver Glitter High Top Sneakers

I don't really like sneakers but they are weaselling their way into my heart, slowly. They also come in gray animal print, black velvet and burgundy velvet Sick.

  • Talon spike knuckle ring

Um... These are crazy and don't just look dangerous, they actually ARE dangerous. An essential accessory if you are prone to cat-fights in 7-11 parking lots and stuff.

  • Christian Louboutin Artemis spiked watersnake and leather shoulder bag

OK, I had to throw in a few uber-expensive items. Wear this one when you're at an event full of people you don't like. Air-kisses will never be the same.

  • Christian Louboutin 20th Anniversary Isolde 160 patent-leather sandals

I wish I didn't love these, but I do. I DO! I think these are the kinds of shoes a man doesn't understand, unless he is paying you to dominate him. God, they are amazing.

  • Maison Michel Spike multi-chain metal headband

It's a little bit Jesus, don't you think? I'm sure some fabulous girl would make it look devastating, though.

  • Giuseppe Zanotti Swarovski crystal and spike-embellished contoured wedges

Oh, no biggie! Just $3,000 for a pair of shoes.  This whole "no heel" trend is so silly, and in general, I just cannot get behind it. But I would be willing to reverse my position for this pair alone. They are spectacular.
