I've been shaking my fist and shouting at the sky a lot.

For many of us in the Northern hemisphere, this January has been absolutely insane. Temperatures dipping below freezing for days on end, coupled with ridiculous, face-freezing winds blowing at frightening speeds. If the weather isn't making me feel like Jack Torrance at the end of The Shining, then it's making me feel like a very cold Mary Poppins, getting ready to blow away any minute.

It's got me cranky. I feel very "Old Man Yells At Cloud" lately, and the bad mood starts just as soon as I wake up and have to figure out what to wear. Oh, tights again. Great. Wool socks too? Time to cover myself in enough layers so that I can't bend my arms on the subway ... oh, and look at the salt stains on my boots. Fantastic.

I turned into Grumpy Cat before leaving work last night.

All that being said, I'm sure there's a way to stay cute and not-miserable in the midst of this Polar Vortex 2: Electric Boogaloo. I'm thinking a new coat (my mom just picked me up a vintage black wool number with fur cuffs and collar), and some sort of headgear. Not braces-headgear. Hat-headgear. Come on!

This week, I've chosen three of you for Outfit(s) of The Week, because there was just too much goodness happening in the comment section when you shared last week. Despite the deep-freeze taking over our lives, you're all still fabulous, and that inspires me.

First, I loved maddestef's ensemble. The cozy sweater and scarf are obviously appropriate for the season, but I love how she echoed the rose print of her skirt in her little brooch. Fantastic accessorizing that keeps a bit of springtime optimism on the surface of this wintry outfit.

Happy flowers!

Commenter Amanda Richards was in line with my "it's cold, put a scarf around your head" approach in this outfit that featured one of my favourite classics, an oversized camel coat. For your own big ol' blanket scarf, try this sale option from Zara.

Scarves should always double as blankets.

And last but not least is our resident queen of colour, Buttercup Rocks. The lime and turquoise hues in this outfit are the perfect pick-me-up for this time of year, and I'm completely in love with those mod earrings.

Colour, glorious colour!

Three totally different looks that are all uniquely fabulous in their own way. This is why I love this column, and now I'm feeling a little bit more optimistic about getting dressed for work tomorrow.

How have you been coping with the weather this week? And to you Southern hemisphere folks, please share your warm looks too. Maybe I'll absorb some sunshine through the screen?
