I'm Giving My Florals A Break And Going For Botanicals This Spring

Could greenery and tropical prints be the fresh twist that florals need?

I’m a fan of florals year-round. I am constantly buying fresh flowers from my favourite local florist, and even when it’s raining outside, I tend to reach for a floral print dress or flower crown. Of course when spring hits, florals are a no brainer. People’s gardens, closets, magazines and runway shows alike are all bursting with blooms.

It’s nothing groundbreaking.

This year however, the trendiest florals are not those for the faint of heart (or your grandmother’s bedroom curtains!) Bright bits of greenery, saturated colours, and tropical plants have been popping up everywhere!

Versace chose a graphic, shiny collaged floral fabric, and at Valentino Red the florals looked like a garden that had grown wild and out of control. My favourite print however was the jungle inspired leafy gorgeousness at Hermes. Stores and trend reports alike are filled with clothing that looks like its been printed with photos of abandoned greenhouses and lush forest floors. One thing is for certain: floral isn’t just for the flowers anymore.

So whether you’re wearing head-to-toe plant filled prints like me, or mixing a hint of palm leaves, succulents, and birds of paradise into your accessory game, mix up your spring look with some fresh green goodness!

So what do you think? Are you ready for a bit more botanical in your wardrobe?
