What’s The Cut-Off Point For Wearing Brightly Coloured Make Up? And Have I Passed It?

It wouldn’t occur to me to whip out the blue mascara or a purple eye shadow of an evening. I just feel a bit like that sort of behaviour was the preserve of my teenage years and early ‘20s. I’m being an idiot, aren’t I?

makeup, blue mascara, how old is too old?

Here's the latest in a series of mini-posts we've been doing with one of our sponsors, on the things we've been talking about in the office this week.

I went out with my friend last weekend. We hadn’t seen each other in about six months, so it was a good opportunity to catch up and get a bit plastered.

However, I was shocked – SHOCKED I tell you - when she turned up sporting some rather flash green eye shadow. I wasn’t shocked because it looked bad – on the contrary, it was expertly applied and really suited her. I was shocked because she’s always gone for quite neutral make up (as do I), and, at 32 I just assumed she was a bit… past experimental cosmetic application.

Clearly I’m being ridiculous and just plain wrong, but it wouldn’t occur to me to whip out the blue mascara or a purple eye shadow of an evening. I just feel a bit like that sort of behaviour was the preserve of my teenage years and early ‘20s. I’m being an idiot, aren’t I?
