I basically called my mom for help. Except when I say mom, I mean an esthetician.
Although I know there's plenty of good reasons to use toner, it's been one of those beauty products that I think I can go without for a really long time before realizing the errors of my ways. (It took me a really long time to admit that I needed makeup brushes.)
I probably still wouldn't be using toner if it wasn't for Marci generously giving me this Fresh Peony Brightening Moisturizing Facial Toner. I mean, with a name like that, how could I say no? Plus Sable declared, "I am pro toner," and trust me: once you hear that Sable's face likes something, your face decides it needs it, too.
I've only been using this toner for about a week, so it's too soon to write an in-depth review. However, I can say that I'm really glad I started using it. I simply use clean hands (rather than wasting cotton balls) to pat some onto my skin at night or in the morning after cleansing. Then, I continue with the rest of my skincare routine.
I have my fingers crossed for the brightening effect that's promised; time will tell. The moisturizing claim proved to be true immediately, though. I was afraid toners would be too harsh and drying for my skin, but not this one. If you have dry, sensitive skin, then this would be a good toner for you to try. Plus, although I don't usually love fragranced skincare products, I have to admit that the scent of this one is heavenly.
Now it's time for Comments of the Week!
1. "Meghan" shared a genius sheet mask tip:
Before I fully open a sheet mask pack, I cut off a tiny corner and squeeze out the extra serum into a clean, empty contact lens case or travel container. There's always plenty left for the mask and now I also have the leftover serum to use. :)
2. I would do the same thing as "Pippermints" if I won the lottery:
If I were super rich I'd buy those adorable paul joe cat face lipsticks and just replace them every time the cat face was gone.
3. "pegolasgreenleaf" is right; I've tried these hydrating lipsticks and they really are amazing.
A good cheaper option is the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker gloss sticks. They're a shiny balm with a decent amount of pigment. The best part is they're only $6, so you can buy multiples without the guilt. Also, they're called SEXY MOTHER PUCKER, which is the best name for a lip product in the history of makeups.
4. "BirdyAnn" shared a great overnight skincare dupe for those of you on a budget:
Missha Science Activator Ampoule is a great budget-friendly dupe for Estee's serum - Skin and Tonics has a good side-by-side comparison . I've been using it at night for about 6 months along with Skinceuticals retinol and CeraVe PM and my skin feels amazing.
