It's gonna get sappy up in here.
Hey guys! I'm sorry this week's open-thread question is late. On our way back from the press trip I mentioned earlier this week, OUR BUS CAUGHT FIRE. I was stranded on the side of the highway with about 50 other beauty editors for a while, and I just got home and back to wifi access.
It seems like they sent almost as many firefighters to the scene as there were passengers, which was totally weird. Or maybe it isn't? I dunno. My sister is married to a firefighter, so I'll ask him if that's protocol. I'll also ask him if he ever dressed up as a firefighter for Halloween as a kid, because I need to be able to transition into this week's question. Clunkity-clunk.
I'm kicking myself for not realizing I could have done a pretty easy Kimmy Schmidt costume for Halloween instead of, you know, staying in like someone who doesn't love Halloween. Because I DO love Halloween. But the combination of thinking up a costume too late and feeling self-conscious about my recent mole biopsy had me hanging out on the couch instead.
But let's find out xoVainers' answers to this question:
What did you go as for Halloween this year?
Sable: "D'Arcy Wretzky (pre-arrests, also pre-cosmetic surgeries?). We played a show so it made sense? But NOT a covers show."
Rachel: "I continued my several year long tradition of eschewing 'costumes' and using Halloween as an excuse to just wear a lot of makeup and a low-cut gown and drink wine and look super-hot and take a ton of selfies and so, thusly, I present my costume which is: a hotter version of myself."
Tamara: "Poison Ivy."
Hannah L.: "I had to stay in and revise for a statistics exam!"
Annie W.D.: "I dressed as a dead viking and went to 'Valhalla-ween' at a farmyard in Wales. No photos have survived."
Kara: "I didn't actually go out. I just put on my Marie Antoinette outfit for fun and then went out for dinner dressed like bad Sandy."
Kelly: "Cersei from the season 6 finale of Game of Thrones! I also did my boyfriend's pirate makeup. He let me give him a scar and guyliner and I was very excited about it."
Kim: "I went as a film noir star, with inspiration from RuPaul's Drag Race's Detox."
Samantha: "I was going to go as Damian from Mean Girls with a 'She doesn't even go here' sign. Then I realized I don't even own a hoodie."
Hannah: "Alice Cooper."
I know a few of you shared your Halloween photos in random comments throughout the week, but consider this your official invitation to show off or explain why you didn't do anything. Hell, feel free to start brainstorming next year's costume!
