If You Like Glitter, Robots and Gluing Hair to Your Face, You're Going to Love This Week's Beauty News

Also: Too Faced gave everyone a sneak peek at two adorable collaborations.

Is it raining where you are? I know, I know: I'm officially so boring that I've stooped to conversing about the weather. But seriously, here in PA (and I think in New York, too, where I'll be spending the weekend) it's pouring and is supposed to keep storming for the next week or so. It doesn't feel very summery, but hey, it's perfect weather for grabbing a mug of coffee or tea — iced, if it actually feels like summer where you are — and sitting down somewhere cozy to read this week's news roundup.

This woman cut off the ends of her hair and glued them to her brows

Another week, another beauty vlogger doing something absolutely bananas. This week, the honor goes to Stephanie Lange, who came up with the dubious idea of using the hair on her head to fill out her naturally sparse brows.

Interesting idea in theory, but does it actually work? You can see the final result in her video below:

Personally, I feel like that's a lot of work for not-so-great results, so maybe don't try this at home, kids. Just use makeup or microblading or, hell, actual brow extensions.

Move over Kylie: there's a new lip kit in town

Pat McGrath Labs just announced the launch of its very first lip kit, and I'm dying to get my hands on one. Why? One word: GLITTER.

Check out Bella Hadid modeling one of the three shades below:

It will be available in three shades — Flesh, Vermillion Venom, and Bloodwine — and each kit contains two matte lipsticks, a gloss, a pot of metallic gold pigment, and a pot of microfine glitter, all for $60.

They'll be available at PatMcgrath.com on August 30 and at select Sephora stores and Sephora.com on September 8. Do not even attempt to speak to me on those days (or afterwards, because if I manage to score a kit I will be unable to speak with all that glitter on my lips).

Too Faced just released a first look at not one but TWO new collaborations

First, Too Faced and Kat Von D released the first look of their new collaboration yesterday. And look how pretty it is:

What's really cool about the palette is that it connects magnetically in the middle so you can break it in half. There's no peek at the inside of the palette yet, but each half will contain all new shades. The collection also includes the cult favorites Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara and Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. It will launch exclusively at Sephora (on 12/26 for the US and Canada, and Valentine's Day worldwide) and it will be limited-edition so make sure to mark your calendars if you want to snap this up!

Secondly, we also got our first look at a collab between Too Faced and Beautyblender, courtesy of Too Faced creative director Jerrod Blandino's Instagram:

How adorable is that? The set, which includes a Beautyblender sponge and Blotterazzi as well as a Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo, will be available at Sephora this coming fall according to PopSugar. (And check out the cute illustration of Jerrod's dog!)

You can now have a robot give you a tattoo

Welcome to the future. If you've ever been stressed over a bad experience with a tattoo artist, maybe one day you can just skip the social interaction altogether and have a robot tattoo you.

French duo Appropriate Audiences teamed up with the Applied Research Lab at Autodesk to create this massive tattooing robot arm.

On one hand, the robot seems very precise and you won't have to worry about human error. Plus it'd be pretty cool to be able to be like, "Oh yeah, a robot gave me this tattoo." On the other hand, it's obviously lacking the personal touch that you can get from a human artist. Either way I think it's fascinating (and you can read the entire Refinery29 article about it if you agree).

  • Will you be purchasing (or trying to purchase) the Pat McGrath lip kit?
  • Which Too Faced collaboration are you most excited for?
  • Would you ever consider getting a tattoo from a robot?
