Will Wearing A Bra At Night Keep Your Boobs From Sagging?

Actually, a new French study says it may do just the opposite.

I'm hesitant to believe anything in articles that throw around the phrase “a recent study confirmed." As someone who studied research design and analysis and statistics as part of her psychology course at university, this kind of grand statement makes me wary.

Oh, you did a study with three people in it for a brief period? Great. Let me know when you do a million others similar to it.

I've always been skeptical of the many articles that reference studies linking bra-wearing and perky breasts. Often they suggest wearing a bra at night to prevent sagging and train breasts to stay up. Now, a recent French study performed over a period of 15 years is touting the opposite: bras don't prevent sagging, they may actually encourage it.

"Medically, physiologically, anatomically--breasts gain no benefit from being denied gravity. On the contrary, they get saggier with a bra."--Professor Jean-Denis Rouillon

Professor Jean-Denis Rouillon, the sports medicine specialist who published the study, found that women who did not wear bras benefited in the long term, even developing additional muscle tissue for natural support. "Their nipples lifted on average 7 millimeters in one year in relation to the shoulders," said Rouillon of the women aged 18 to 35 who participated in the study.

It was further concluded, however, that if you have been wearing a bra for decades upon decades, casting it aside now won't reverse the alleged affects, or make your breasts any perkier.

Though the length of his study was substantial, Rouillon admits that his sample, a mere 320 women, was not large enough for a conclusive result. Further research with larger groups must be conducted.

My takeaway? I will continue to wear my bra, but not 24/7/365. I'll wear one when I want/need to.

What do you all think? Do you wear a bra to bed?

P.S. I vote we start calling them Titslings instead of bras. You with me?
