It's gonna get sappy up in here.
Happy weekend, my angels! How are your last few days of February going? It’s currently 57 degrees in Minneapolis, which is kind of insane. Spring is in the air, and that doesn’t just mean in Minnesota. I can’t wait to see what a new (warmer) season will bring to the beauty news.
Caitlyn Jenner’s got your perfect everyday lipstick covered
I knew Caitlyn Jenner would eventually get a MAC deal; after all, she’s basically everything MAC stands for. Well, it’s finally happened!
Caitlyn’s lipstick, Finally Free, will be released in April, and she told MAC that it’s the color she was always reaching for. You know, that perfect rosy pink that you can just swipe on and go? That’s Finally Free.
All of the proceeds from the shade go to support the MAC AIDS Fund Transgender Initiative, which is awesome. I’m definitely going to pick one or two up; I think this shade will look as good on my grandma as it does on me.
Caitlyn explained her decision go to pink this way: “I wanted a lipstick that would be universal, suited to more people, and was an everyday lipstick, not just a high-glam, once-in-a-while kind of lipstick. I like a little colour on my lips, not a lot during the day. And this rosy nude is the colour I’ve gone to.”
She also says she wanted the color to be easy, so that it would sell. “I want people to use it every day so they have to buy more. I want to raise a lot of money. It’s very simple.”
Caitlyn has gotten some flak for not being active enough in the transgender community, and for her Republican views. However, her interview with MAC shows that she’s committed to doing what she can to raise awareness — and money — for a cause that is obviously quite close to her heart.
People are concerned with why Olivia Munn’s face looks the way it does
As much as I’d enjoy being a celebrity and having unlimited access to beautiful clothes, shoes and beauty products, I’d hate the endless focus on the way I look. People’s faces change as they age and fluctuate in weight — why is that news?
Poor Olivia Munn got the Renee Zellweger treatment recently, as folks where whispering about what she’d had done to her face. Olivia was like, “Dude, I tweaked my routine?” She’s changed her brows, adjusted her eating habits to include more Japanese potatoes (apparently they’re good for your skin) and trying to get rid of her sunspots with chemical exfoliation.
She shared her tips on her Instagram page, saying, “Who says guys are the only ones who get better with age? We’re gonna turn that myth around if we share what we learn with each other.”
Khloé gets honest about why HER face looks the way it does
Though most of the Kardashians (cough, cough, all of them but Kourtney) look a little different then they did when the show premiered way back in the day, it’s Khloé who has made the biggest transformation. I just watched the Kim + Kris Humphries wedding episodes and she looks like a different person now. She’s been honest about her hardcore workouts and strict diet, and it’s hard to deny that 2016 Khloé is a stunner.
I mean, we’d all look perfect if we had Joyce Bonelli and Jen Aitkin at our beck and call, but Khloé also relies on a little app to make those sexy selfies look otherworldly: FaceTune.
“It’s the only way to live,” she said of the $3.99 app. That’s a pretty small price to pay for skin that looks like it was blessed by a unicorn princess in a Kris Jenner costume.
Khlo appeared in an episode of Chelsea Handler’s Netflix show and she had this to say about the Khloé you see on Instagram: “It’s not real, you are presenting to the world what you want them to believe you are. It’s amazing.” Chelsea pointed out that it might have been Khloé’s famous family who brought this to fruition, to which Khlo laughed off, saying “No comment there.”
And no judgment here. Everyone filters their damn selfies. It’s fun!
Happy birthday, Elizabeth Taylor!
Since this weekend’s edition of Beauty News is all celebrity-focused, we’ve got to include the ultimate celebrity: Elizabeth Taylor. Yesterday was her birthday, and though she’s been dead for several years, we’ll never forget her. She was so stunningly beautiful; there’s never been another quite like her. Marilyn is my ultimate, but Elizabeth is a very close second.
Hello! rounded up some of La Liz’s most iconic hair and beauty moments, from Cleopatra excess to her flawless brows.
- Which incarnation of Liz is your favorite? I love all the Elizabeths, but I have a soft spot for “giant hair ‘80s” and “white-haired beautiful grandma” Elizabeth.
- Will you pick up a tube of Finally Free?
- Which apps do you use to edit your selfies?
