Unicorn Hoof Nails: Because More Manicures Should Be Inspired By Mythical Creatures

The effect is a sort of transfixing vortex of rainbow iridescence you can carry with you.

Unicorns.

Need I say more? Probably not, but I will anyway.

Unicorns are probably one of the most wonderful animals in non-existence. They have all the pretty attributes of a regular horse, plus magical powers and a (potentially glittery) horn.

Sadly, though, they're not real (though I'm convinced at some point they were based on the existence of narwhals). It's heartbreaking to me that I'll never get to feed a unicorn a pink lady apple, braid daisies into a unicorn's mane, or go on a magical crusade against evil like the characters in The Last Unicorn, but I find comfort in my favourite unicorn-inspired beauty looks, like unicorn hoof nails.

Unicorn hoof nails are made up of a combination of three super-sparkle-magic polishes, a top coat to seal all that glitter in, and a tiny touch of unicorn enchantment. The effect is a sort of transfixing vortex of rainbow iridescence you can carry with you.

You’ll Need:

·China Glaze “Rainbow”

·Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in "Diamond Jubilee"

·Deborah Lippmann “Stairway to Heaven”

·A top/bottom coat (I used Butter London Horse Power Nail Fertilizer)

Step 1

Prime your nails with your bottom coat of choice. I recently discovered the wonders of Butter London’s Horse Power, and unless you pry it from my cold dead hands, I’m never going back. I also used their Melt Away Cuticle Eliminator to make my nails as unicorn ready as possible before I started painting, and it really worked wonders!

Step 2

Paint your nails with a coat of China Glaze “Rainbow,” let it dry, and then add another coat. This polish is amazing, so the coverage should be pretty good, but I like to do two coats just to ensure my nails are as pearly opalescent as possible.

Step 3

Add on a layer of Sally Hansen “Diamond Jubilee."

Step 4

Now it’s time to break out my personal favourite polish of all time, Deborah Lippmann’s “Stairway to Heaven.” It has so many tiny glitter colours and shapes!

Step 5

Seal in those sparkles with a heavy topcoat of Horse Power, and you’re done!

The final result will be a multi-layered, shining, shimmering sparkle nail look like no other. You’ll seriously get lost in your nails, staring at them constantly while you write or type (... as I am right now). Just please don’t stare and drive or operate heavy machinery, or you, too, may become extinct.
