Since I'm a visual person I hardly ever remember the album title but I just remember what the album art looks like.
After I watched The Virgin Suicides recently (can you believe it's been 15 years since it was in theaters?) I was left with so many feelings of nostalgia and a serious crush on Trip Fontaine. It was such a dreamy film, and I was inspired to create a youthful makeup look with a pastel blue haze on my eyes.
I started with my usual face done. A light base is ideal for this look, as it’s supposed to be mega-dewy. My skin has been pretty clear, so I just used a CC cream and spot-concealed on parts that needed more coverage. I set the parts of my face that tend to get oilier with a translucent powder. I didn’t set my whole face with powder to maintain the dewiness.
I purposely made my brows straighter to give my face a younger appearance. (I actually do this daily anyway as I’m always told I look older than I actually am.)
Afterwards, I used my NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk to create a base for my eyeshadow. I just smudged it out with my fingers.
Then using a small eyeshadow brush, I swept a shimmery light-blue eyeshadow on to my eyelids, all the way to the crease. I built it up until it was an intensity I was happy with. I also put some on the inner corners of my eye and on the outer corners of my bottom lash line. Then, I used a fluffy eyeshadow brush to bend it all out. The blending is what makes this look so dreamy and hazy, so make sure to blend really well!
Next, I curled my lashes, put on mascara and did some subtle contouring using my Australis AC On Tour kit. I added just enough of the medium brown shade to add dimension to my face, but not so much that it was obvious. I also made sure my lashes didn’t look too spidery or clumpy as I wanted the effect of soft, fluttery lashes. You can add some false individual lashes if you want to make the look a bit more dramatic.
I also skipped out on eyeliner, but if you want more definition in your eyes, you could smudge out some brown or black pencil liner for a soft effect.
Next is an important step: highlighter! This stuff really brightens up my face and makes me look like a glowing angel. Who doesn’t want to look like a glowing angel?! Using my fingers, I blended out some liquid highlighter on the high points of my face. Then I used the shimmery shade from the Australis AC On Tour kit on top of it. Make sure not to go overboard, or you could end up looking a little sweaty and oily.
This look makes me want to traipse around in a lace dress forever.
