I wasn't alive yet when Twin Peaks first aired, but now that I'm catching up, I'm obsessed with the makeup.

If you watched TV in the '90s, you probably remember the show Twin Peaks. Since I was actually born in the '90s, I’ve only just recently got around to watching it. (I’m only three-quarters in to the second season though, so no spoilers!)

The quaint and quiet town of Twin Peaks is charming, but mysterious. There’s a strange kind of magic in the woods, and the show is about the murder of a girl named Laura Palmer. There are quite a few female characters in the show, but I have gotten the most beauty inspiration from Laura, Donna and Audrey.

Laura

This first look is inspired by murder victim Laura Palmer. I took inspiration from her prom photo in particular. Here, she has a lot of glitter happening, along with light pink lip gloss and blush.

I used silver glittery eyeshadow all over my eyelids, then curled my lashes and applied mascara. Then I swiped on a light pink lipstick and put a clear gloss over it. I also swirled on a matching light pink blush.

This look totally reminds me of Lizzie McGuire.

Donna

Donna Hayward was Laura’s BFF and the closest to Laura. She often sports very warm makeup in earthy tones.

For this look, I smoked out some black eyeliner close to my lash line, and I swept matte bronzer up from the apples of my cheeks. Then, I used Elizabeth Arden Exceptional Lipstick in Goldmine on my lips.

I feel like this makeup makes me look waaaaay older than I am (which is 18). I feel like it’s quite a statement, as it looks a little dated, but could look awesome on a younger face like Donna’s.

Audrey

Audrey Horne went to school with Donna and Laura, and her dad owns the Great Northern Hotel (and "half the town"). She develops a bit of a crush on Agent Cooper, the guy investigating Laura’s murder, and is flirty, clever and very fashionable.

This is a classic ‘50s-inspired look! Black winged liner, matte red lipstick and lots of lashes. I recommend adding fake lashes to amp up this look—I didn’t in these photos.

I used Australis Velourlips Matte Cream in the shade NY-CEE. Audrey also wears a milder red in some episodes; if you would prefer that, I’d recommend NYX Butter Gloss in Cherry Pie. I use that regularly and I love it!

I can't wait to see what new beauty inspiration comes with the new episodes of Twin Peaks that are supposed to come out in the next year or two!

  • Am I the only person who hadn't seen it until now?
