Since I'm a visual person I hardly ever remember the album title but I just remember what the album art looks like.
Part of my job as a beauty writer is to test products out and share my opinions with you guys. Some products take me a while to warm up to and some I immediately love but get bored with later on down the road.
Then there are products that, whether I liked or loved them, managed to become regular fixtures in my makeup stash.
Here’s an update on some of the products and brands I’ve reviewed on xoVain before that I’m still digging.
I first reviewed Colour Pop in October, and it's still one of my favorite brands to buy. I love that they have such a wide color selection in all of their products, I love that they show swatches of these products on multiple skin tones, and I love that they've made such good products so affordable.
I love the Super Shock Shadows still, but I find that I reach for the Lippie Stix and blushes the most. They recently introduced a new formula of Lippie Stix (sheer) as well as highlighters and liquid lipsticks, and I can't wait to try them!
MUG was one of the first things I wrote about for xoVain over a year ago, and that I still love this brand should come as a surprise to no one as I continually use Makeup Geek products in most of my LOTW looks (I’m trying to branch out, guys, I promise).
They offer high-end-quality shadows and pigments at a price that is far more affordable. I love that the brand is consistent in terms of quality (their blushes are fantastic as well) so when I order from the website I don’t have to worry about whether or not I’m going to like what I purchase.
I've technically only reviewed the cosmetics side of Shea Moisture; however, I've mentioned the brand pretty much every chance I can get in the comments or in other articles I've written (most notably my skincare routine). If you were to look in my bathroom, you would probably think my life was sponsored by Shea Moisture.
I love the products (hair, skincare, body, makeup, ALL OF THE THINGS), I love the company, and I just can't say enough good things about them. African Black Soap is my jam, and as long as they keep doing what they're doing, I'll be down for Shea Moisture for life.
ProductsYSL Fusion Ink Foundation
This is my HG foundation, hands down. I wrote about it in a round-up of foundations for oily skin a few months ago, and I've worn it every day since up until last month. (I switched to a combo of Glossier Skin Tint and the Mixed Chick Duo Stick for now because I'm a darker shade and I won't be darker long enough to justify buying a different shade in the YSL.)
This foundation blends in so seamlessly and is one of the few that I can honestly say stays on my face all day. It keeps me matte without looking flat.
Giorgio Armani Eye Tints
I also reviewed these back in March, and I still think they're great; three are in my regular rotation, especially Rose Ashes and Senso. I use Rose Ashes on mornings I'm in a rush and still want something on the eyes because it's quick to blend and such a lovely shade of rose gold, and I use Senso when I want an easy smoky eye. Sometimes I even wear these without primer underneath and they still hold up well all day.
L.A. Girl Pro Conceal
I go pretty hard for MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, but sometimes mama's not on a MAC Pro Longwear budget if you know what I mean. When I need an excellent concealer at low cost L.A. Girl Pro Conceal is my choice because it's only $5 (you can find it some places for even less than that).
I wrote about it last August, and it's still the closest drugstore dupe I've found for MAC and is actually a little easier to blend (although it does crease ever so slightly). I also think L.A. Girl has a better variety of shades than MAC does, so if you can't find your shade, I would definitely recommend checking L.A. Girl out!
Milani Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick
I'm so happy that drugstore brands are starting to offer matte selections and between the formula and the color, Milani still has some of my favorites. As a big-time lipstick lover, I love that I've been able to find a few dupes for higher-end brands within the range.
Honorable mention goes to Glossier; I mentioned the Moisturizing Moon Mask a little more recently, but I use it every night when I go to bed. The Balm Dot Com has become a staple in my purse, and the Skin Tint has been a great addition to my collection.
