Since I'm a visual person I hardly ever remember the album title but I just remember what the album art looks like.
If I’m wearing eyeliner, nine times out of 10 it’s going to be a wing because I just can’t stop myself. I’ll do my liner in other ways as well, but it’s almost always with the same, standard black, liquid or gel liner. Wearing my liner the same way for so long though has gotten a bit stale, so I recently have been trying to come up with ways to make it more fresh — experimenting with pointillism, trying a hollowed-out look, etc. In playing around with different shapes/looks I realized that I don’t even have to explore that far out of the box to get a fun look — I can just up the ante with some fun metallic finish liners!
NYX Retractable Eye Liner in Bronze and Gold
I’ve been using these crayon liners for quite some time now, I just don’t use them as often as my standard black. Both have pretty good pigmentation although they can be a bit dry at first.
I particularly like to use the bronze liner in place of regular brown because I think it adds more depth and dimension. Gold is great for the waterline especially because it opens my eyes up a bit. Both crayons are perfect for smudged looks as well but take a little warming up before they’ll apply smoothly (I usually roll them back and forth in between my palms for a few seconds). As far as staying power I think these are pretty great, but they can bleed a little around the inner and outer corners of the eyes.
Colour Pop Gel Liners
It’s been really fun watching Colour Pop continue to expand their range and do so well because I love how affordable they are! I’ve had my eye on the gel liners for a bit (both in crayon and pot format) and so I finally tried Over Board (metallic bronze) and Kicker (metallic silver). As far as pigmentation goes both the pot and crayon format are pretty consistent and give off a nice rich color.
The gel pot is definitely smoother as far as application goes, but both are really creamy. In fact, the creaminess made me kind of wary that they wouldn’t stay on well but these hold on for dear life!
Urban Decay Razor Sharp Long-Wear Liquid Eyeliner
Urban Decay sent me a few colors in their new Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliner and I was pretty impressed with them overall. A couple of the liners were more pigmented than others, but overall still really nice.
I have a really hard time applying liquid liner if it doesn’t come in a pen (my hands get unsteady sometimes and the brush goes all wonky) but I think the super-slim size of the liquid liners makes it easier to get it right.
These definitely deliver as far as the long-wearing claim, I had to bust out an oil cleanser to remove them because my normal cleanser wasn’t doing the trick.
Have you jumped on the metallic liner bandwagon? Which ones are your favorites?
