Since I'm a visual person I hardly ever remember the album title but I just remember what the album art looks like.

As 2016 is coming to an end, everyone is making their Best [something] of 2016 lists. I was thinking about my favorite albums that came out this year, and since I am a visual person I hardly ever remember the album title but I just remember what the album art looks like. With this in mind, I decided to create some looks based on my favorite albums and their cover art from this year.

Coloring Book – Chance The Rapper

This album cover features a portrait of Chance looking down upon his newborn baby and an orange sky. For this look I kept my base very simple. On the eyes I started by defining my crease with eyeliner in Spice by Makeup Geek.

For that sky-like effect I needed some pinky-orange colors; I found those in my Urban Decay Vice 4 palette. Unfortunately, it was limited edition so those colors are not available anymore. I applied Flame (an orange with gold glitter from Urban Decay’s Vice 4) all over my mobile lid and on the outer part of my lower lash line. To finish off the sparkly-sky effect, I dusted some of my Makeup Geek Sparkler in Solar Flare on top of Flame. I applied Fast-Ball (a shimmery pink-coral from Urban Decay’s Vice 4) on the lower lash line and blended that into the orange color. In the inner corner I applied Voltage by Makeup Geek, a gold/white duochrome. I finished the eyes with some Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner in Nude on my waterline, and some mascara on my lashes.

I didn’t own any blue lipstick so I improvised and used the Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner in Cobalt and I patted some blue eyeshadow over top.

Lemonade – Beyoncé

Of course I had to include Beyoncé in this. Everyone was #shook when she (sort of) surprise-released an album, again. It was a weird time for me because I literally dreamt the release date a month before, but that’s not of importance here. Anyway, On the eyes I went with a blue/brown color scheme. I defined my crease with a sandy color (Wanderer from the Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte palette). I added some more depth with Makeup Geek’s Spice. On the mobile lid I applied Havoc by Makeup Geek. On the middle of the lid I applied a sparkly teal: C-Note from the Urban Decay Vice 4 palette. I also applied a few gold glitters (Makeup Geek Sparkler in Asteroid) in the middle of my lid. I highlighted the inner corner with some gold eyeshadow (Half-Baked from the Urban Decay Naked2 palette). I finished the eyes with some mascara on my lashes and Makeup Geek’s Full Spectrum Liner in Mint on my waterline.

I highlighted my face with some golden tones from my Makeup Revolution Golden Sugar palette and on the lips I applied Colourpop lip gloss in My Jam (it really is my jam).

Malibu - Anderson .Paak

I got a bit of a chaos-vibe from this cover. I decided to concentrate the colorful chaos under the eyes, and keep the rest of the face radiant like the sky. I first defined my crease with the brown/purple tones from my Tarte Tartelette Matte palette. Then I quickly tight-lined my upper lash line with my Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner in Obsidian. I applied mascara to the top lashes.

For the glitter chaos I used several jars of large glitter from a nail-art set. I first used a glitter eyeliner on the lower lash line, and I just stuck the glitters on it in random order. I didn’t try too hard to make both eyes look exactly the same either.

I finished the face with some sky-like colors: I used my NARS Multiple in Hot Sand for an overall glow. On the sides of my face I applied my Milani Baked Blush in Rose d’Or. I couldn’t decide what to do with my lips, since basically any color could work and the album cover has all colors as well. I settled on Colourpop Beeper because it’s such an overall flattering color.
