LOTW: Kristen Stewart's Cobalt Smoky Eye

Guys, I'm having a blue moment.

I mentioned last week that red carpet beauty is a huge source of inspiration for me, but it's not just limited to awards season red carpets. For example: Kristen Stewart's makeup at the NYC premiere of Still Alice (which I'm currently reading, btw).

That pop of cobalt blue on the inner corners of her tear ducts is absolutely stunning against the rest of the sooty, smoky eye. The minute I saw this I was like, LOTW! LOTW!

Before we get to it though, I have to pause and shout out all of you beauties! I was loving the selfies in the comments last week. Here are three that just have to be shared (again).

How To Get Kristen's Cobalt Smoky Eye

I started by priming my lids with the E.L.F. Eyelid Primer and lining the rims of my eyes (entirely) with the Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Pencil in Black Velvet.

Using my fingers, I smudged the Tyra by Tyra Banks Eyes in A Stick in Blold (a black-gold) over all but the inner tear ducts of my mobile lids.

Then I went back in with the Black Velvet pencil and smudged it all over my lids before blending out the crease with smoky black shadow (Creep from the Urban Decay Naked Palette).

The focal point of this eye is obviously the bold cobalt shade in the inner tear duct, so I wanted to make sure to get that right. Kristen's look was all Chanel cosmetics (in the case of the blue liner, Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Bleu Metallique), but I opted for the slightly more affordable Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon in (wave)Length. This crayon is super pigmented and smooth, making it ideal for layering over the black and concentrating extra color in the inner tear duct area.

I cleaned up the shape of my shadow with a makeup remover wipe and coated my lashes with L'Oreal Voluminous Lashes in Blackest Black.

The rest of the look is simple. Kristen's face is pretty angular so I went ahead and contoured my cheekbones, chin, forehead, and nose with the Tyra by Tyra Banks Sculpt in a Stick (it's a couple of shades darker than my skin tone) and highlighted my under-eye area and tops of my cheekbones with the yellow-toned MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter in Bright Forecast.

To add a bit of color I smudged the Sephora + Pantone Universe Marsala Cream Blush Stick (see above) above my cheekbone contour. I used that same cream stick on my lips and finished with a swipe of Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Nudist (a peachy nude shade).
