I have been sick for the last week, and of course, it isn’t
fun. The best part was getting to stay home from work for two days, but even
that was painful--specifically chest pain, a sore throat and a raw nose. I
lived on a mountain of tissues wearing leggings and oversized sweaters while
watching Event Horizon followed by Jingle All The Way.

When I did have to go to work, I needed to pull myself
together. But who wants to put on a full face of makeup when breathing through
the nose is impossible?

So I realized that all I had to do was look refreshed. And
this is how it’s done during unhealthy times.

Moisturize

When I was at the peak of my sickness, I felt like crap and
my red nose had started to peel. My face was definitely paler that usual and
covered in random patches of oil and dry skin. Not pretty.

Washing your face with a gentle cleanser and moisturizing it is
essential. Apply moisturizer several times if necessary--you need your skin to
soak it all up. Drink a couple of glasses of water, too. Actually, never
stop drinking water!

For a peeling nose, I always apply Burt’s Bees Soothing
Lip Balm
with Eucalyptus & Menthol. I know
that putting lip balm on your nose sounds ridiculous, but it is a super-cheap
and easy way to get rid of the redness, soreness and peeling.

This lip
balm is meant for severely dry lips and soothes and heals all of the area. I
rub it into
the affected area and leave it on for about 20 minutes before actually doing my
makeup. And for better results, leave it on overnight.

Foundation, Concealer & Blush

You
want to keep the makeup light, so apply a light foundation or BB cream.

Use
a creamy concealer to reduce any redness around the eyes and nose. Sensual Skin Enhancer by Kevyn Aucoin is the
best! You can layer it on and it has great coverage. Need I say more?

And
I used a powered MAC blush in Mocha. It gives your sick and pale face a rosy glow.

Natural Eyes

Your
eyes have been teary, and they probably look tired. Refresh them with some eye
drops, and use naturalm light shades to open up the eyes.

I
used a very light purple shade on my entire lid and a bright glittery white on
the inside of the eye. Both are from the Urban Decay Naked Palette.

Curl
the lashes to open the eyes more and apply a light coat of waterproof mascara. You’re
probably going to keep sneezing, and using a lot of mascara will probably get it all over your face.

Fresh Lips

To
finish off the look, apply a pink creamy gloss or a berry-tinted lip balm to
moisturize your lips and give you some color.

I applied Kevyn Aucoin Elegant
Lip Gloss. It is very sheer and gives the pout a pretty shine.

And
you’re healthy again! Just kidding! This tutorial won’t get rid of the cold,
but at least you’ll look good and refreshed.

Now
you look like you’ve been sipping mimosas in your Italian villa all morning
after some major beauty rest.
