At the risk of sounding like a broken record, subtle yet slightly odd looks are my favorite. This one is no exception. Half-lining your waterline defines your eyes and gives them room to breathe.

It’s like your now-self meeting with your high-school self and saying, “Hey girl, you don’t need all that black eyeliner.”

Here’s how to get the look.

Using the Urban Decay Naked Palette, I swept Sidecar (a shimmery taupe brown) all over my lids, stopping just at the crease. I blended Smog (a deep brown copper) and Toasted (a warm, slightly pinkish copper) together on the outer corners and finished with Half Baked (a subtle golden bronze) in the center. I also applied Half Baked all along the lower lash line.

Then, using Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner, I applied a very black line to my upper lash line, flicking the end slightly upward. With a black kohl pencil, followed by gel liner to amp up the intensity, I lined my lower waterline, stopping just before the halfway mark.

Here’s the finished look.

I kept the rest of the face minimal with a very light dusting of Kevyn Aucoin Pure Powder Glow in Shadore on the cheeks and OCC Stained Gloss in Aurora (a pinky coral) on the lips.

I’d love to see the half-lined look with a grey smoky eye, or even something a little more colorful.
