5 Long-Wear Foundations For Oily Skin, At Every Price

These are the best drugstore and higher-end formulas I've tried lately.

If you have oily skin, I don’t have to tell you that the struggle is real when it comes to finding a foundation that stays in place. Over the years I’ve tried many different formulas and found a few favorites, but I’m still constantly on the hunt for the best of the best. Here are my latest obsessions in the world of foundations.

I previously wasn’t that impressed with the original Fit Me formula as well as the original matte stick formula, so I didn’t know what to expect from this formula. However, I was super pleased with how effortlessly this blended on my skin, and even more impressed by the finish. I don’t know if I’d go as far as to call it "poreless," but I will say that the finish was super smooth and matte without being chalky. I wore this for about six hours before I needed to blot, and by the end of the day it still looked relatively fresh with minimal fading through the T-zone.

L'Oréal Infallible Pro-Matte 24Hr Foundation

The formula on this was not as thick as I was expecting, yet the coverage was great and the finish was very velvety. What impressed me most about this was how long-wearing it was. This foundation outlasted a collision, an airbag deployment, and a lot of tears. I was in a car wreck recently, and this foundation gained me a lot of compliments in the E.R. and during my brief stay at the hospital. Fab even post-accident? Sign me up!

If You’ve Got Some Dough To DropLaura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide

Overall I’m a fan of this foundation, but I am on the fence as a far as the consistency of the formula. It is a very thin liquid, so it takes a bit more to get the coverage I like. It does set very quickly, though, so I appreciate that. I also like that it provides a semi-matte finish and gives me a good five hours of wear before blotting is necessary.

Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation

This has been one of my favorite foundations to use for the last few months because it is great at controlling oil and actually seems to look even better as the day wears on. The initial finish is pretty matte, but it doesn’t read as dry. The formula is a good balance between thin and thick and it feels almost mousse-like on the skin.

Yves Saint Laurent Fusion Ink Foundation

Although the Hourglass foundation has been my go-to in recent months, this one just knocks it out of the park. I’m not a huge fan of very liquid formulas typically, but I couldn’t get over how well this blended and set. The finish was an ultra-smooth matte and this lasted me 10 hours without blotting. Ten hours! I was so surprised to look in the mirror at the end of the day and see that my face still looked as fresh as when I left the house.
